He was born in Hampden on October 15, 1933, the son of Myrle and Georgia (Phillips) Guptill. Don attended schools in Hampden and Brewer and was a graduate of Bangor High School. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea. Don retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of the Troop Greeters in Bangor, making as many flights, day or night, as he was able. Surviving are his wife, Gloria A. Guptill of Bangor; his daughter, Susan M. Hawes and her husband, Alan R. Hawes of Bangor; stepchildren, Libby and Bill Warren of Prospect, Lisa and Steve Treadwell of Carmel, Charmin and Bill Parker of Bucksport, David and Monica Bushey of Hermon, and Carl and Devon Crossman of Brewer; a brother, Gordon Brown of Florida; a sister, Beverly Valley of Winterport; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews."
