[49311] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine], 10 October 2021": "Treva L. Sanders passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 6, 2021, in Sarasota, Florida, at the age of 85. Treva was born in Houlton, Maine, on January 22, 1936, the daughter of Mildred (Bradstreet) and Frank D. Larlee. Treva graduated from Kents Hill School in Kents Hill, Maine, in 1954, and went on to receive her bachelor's degree in education from Lamar Institute of Technology, Beaumont, Texas, in 1959. After relocating to California with her family, Treva continued additional graduate studies in both business management and education for the learning disabled. While raising 5 children, Treva enjoyed working in various careers as a teacher, social worker, neurological office and lab manager and as a program control administrator at Hughes Aircraft Company. In 1987 Treva and her devoted husband, J.T. Sanders, moved back to her beloved childhood home of Silver Ridge, Maine. During this time Treva was a teacher at Katahdin High School, and earned her master's degree in education in 1993 from University of Maine, Orono, finally fulfilling her goal of becoming an education specialist for students with severe disabilities. Treva continued as a special education teacher in Norfolk, Virginia, and Bangor, Maine. She then worked as a community outreach specialist with Americorps VISTA in Houlton. Treva loved her time working with Americorps, as it allowed her to work and develop friendships with so many great people across Aroostook County. Treva was predeceased by her loving husband of 40 years, James T. Sanders, in 2017. She had recently relocated to Sarasota, Florida, to be near her family when she passed from natural causes. Treva is survived by her 5 children, Deirdre, David, Michael, Bill and Lori; 6 grandchildren, Ashley, Thomas, John, Caleb, Liam and Gabriel; dear friends, Gene and Char Stubbs; and many others."
