Carleton graduated from Brewer High School (Penobscot Co., ME) in 1919 and Bates College in 1923. "The Mirror" (published by Bates College) in 1923 includes his photograph and "Carleton Leslie Walker, A.B. 'Tis not the tongue that makes the bell ring sweet, It is the metal of the bell itself.' Born December 3, 1898, Bradford, Maine; Brewer High School; Y. M. C. A., 1, 2, 3, 4; Entertainment Committee, 3; Outing Club, 4. Speaking of tongues, We have often wondered whether Carleton had one or not. Quiet and unobstrusive yet cordial and friendly, describes Walker. He has one great dream of life's adventure and his faithful study of Zane Gray betrays the dream. Carleton is a philosopher as would naturally be expected of one who talks so little and thinks so much. As a business man he takes a place second to no one. Oh, yes,
Carleton will get there and he wont be last, either."
