[54750] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 22 September 2003, p. 14: "Milbridge - Frank Strout, 78, passed away peacefully Sunday Sept. 21, 2003 after a long illness. He was born Nov. 8, 1924 in Milbridge, the son of Clifford and Flora Edna (Beal) Strout. During World War II Frank served his country in the U.S. Army as a medic with the 60th Infantry Regiment and saw action in Central Europe and Germany. He served in the Army of Occupation. After returning from Germany, Frank spent his life in Milbridge. He drove a grocery truck for Irving Parritt, Sr. in Steuben and worked as a meat cutter for C.H. Mathews in Cherryfield before going to work for Carroll Gay in Milbridge at Shop and Save for 35 years as a meat cutter. Frank was a member of the VFW Post No. 109 of Ellsworth and was a founding member of Petit Manan Ambulance Corps in Milbridge where he served as a volunteer for years. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Helen (Ray) Strout; his only child, Michael Strout and his wife, Jennifer; two granddaughters, Jessica (Strout) Beal and her husband, Donald, and Jillian Strout and her special friend, Erving Grant; one special great granddaughter, who he called Maddie, Madison Beal, all of Milbridge; his nephew, Emery Strout and his wife, Sharon of Machiasport; his niece, Pamela (Strout) Davis and her husband, Daniel Davis of Beals; many other nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Rosalee M. (Strout) Lund and her husband, Lewis J. Lund, Jr.; and a special sister-in-law, Elaine R. Leighton."
