[5876] Roger is given as Margaret's father by James Henry Mason, "The Dudley Genealogies" (Glendale, California, 1987), p.14. He states, p. 3: "Edwin, Earl of Mercia, was Lord Dudley before the Norman Conquest. He was slain in 1071 by the Normans, and his Dudley estates were given to William Fitz Ausculph or Ansculf. The Domesday Book says: `the said William holds Dudley and there is his castle.' The date was 14 William I (1080). The castle was probably inherited by a daughter of Fitz Ausculph who married a Paganel. Fulke Paganel [see ID5998 - AEM] came into possession of Dudley soon after Fitz Ausculph's time. He was succeeded by his son Ralph. The eldest of Ralph's six sons was Gervase, who inherited Dudley and built a priory there about 1161. King Henry II demolished Dudley Castle in 1175, because Gervase Paganel aided his rebellious son Henry. Hawyse, daughter of Gervase Paganel, now inherited the estate. She married John de Somery. Their son Ralph was heir in 1194, and died in 1208. His son and heir, William Perceval de Somery, left the estate to his son Nicholas, who died in 1229, leaving the estate to his uncle, Roger. About 1262 Roger de Somery `began to make a castle of his manor house at Dudley.' He was a warrior and had license from the king to castellate his manor. He died in 1273, and two more de Somery lords of Dudley occupied the castle. The castle now passed to the Sutton family when John de Sutton married Margaret de Somery." Jane graduated from Temple University in 1931, majoring in music, and was a teacher. Ancestry.com offers: "Howe Name Meaning - English: topographic name for someone who lived by a small hill or a man-made mound or barrow, Middle English how (Old Norse haugr), or a habitational name from a place named with this word, such as Howe in Norfolk and North Yorkshire.English: variant of Hugh."

"Bangor Daily News [Bangor, ME], 11 June 2016": "Brewer - Barbara L. Foster, 81, died unexpectedly June 7, 2016, at her home. She was born May 24, 1935, in Hampden, the daughter of Charles and Doris (Legasse) Nelson. Barbara graduated from Brewer High School, class of 1953. She married Norman, her high school sweetheart, in 1954. The two lived together in Key West, Florida, where Norm was stationed in the United States Navy. They returned home to the Bangor area, where Barbara devoted herself to raising their two children. Barbara and Norm celebrated 62 years of marriage in April of this year. Barbara and Norm were known for their 'daytrips,' and they enjoyed traveling to the coast, shopping around town, or driving together wherever the car would take them. Barbaras great joy in life was to witness the milestones of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. Barbara is survived by her husband; her son Terrance Foster and wife Katie; and her daughter Ann Szylvian and husband Frank. Barbara was an adoring 'Grammy' to her four adult grandchildren Matthew, Sally, Pearl, and Chadwick. She was also blessed with five great grandchildren Joseph, James, William, Ezra, and Everett. She was predeceased by her parents and a very special aunt and uncle Mary and George Legasse."
