Over his long valued life he was a farmer, a logger, a pilot, a service man and proud veteran, a Scout leader, a past Master Mason of Warren Lodge No. 2 and a dual member of David Hooper Lodge, member of the Trenton Grange, member of the Trenton Historical Society, a businessman, past president of his local chamber of commerce, selectman, sign officer and appeals board member, chair for many years of the Hancock County Airport Advisory Committee, a friend, confidant, surrogate Dad to many and first and foremost a happy family man. George was predeceased by the love of his life, Pat. He is survived by his daughter and son Patti Ann Billings and Ernest Hopkins of Trenton, grandson Benjamin and wife, Genevieve M Billings, of Lamoine, great-granddaughter Tabatha Black of Clinton, Conn., and many nieces, nephews and friends across the miles. He will be dearly missed by so many."

"The Press Democrat [Santa Rosa, California], 25 February 1986," p. 7: "The body of Donald Jewell, 61, of Linda, was discovered Saturday in the trunk of a neighbor's car, where he had apparently been sleeping, and the body of Robert Ainsworth, 64, of Palermo south of Oroville, was found Sunday north of Marysville." Many thousands of persons were evacuated from their homes due to a massive flood, and Donald apparently was one of them. "Times-Advocate [Escondido, California], 24 February 1986," p. 6: "The first death blamed on the Yuba River flooding was that of Donald M. Jewell, 61, of East Linda, whose body was found Saturday in his neighbor's car."
