She was born October 27, 1923 in Jackson Township, Richland County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Ralph W. and Madaline F. (Artz) Bly. Vivian was a 1942 graduate of Shelby High School and was a former employee of the Autocall Company and Miller Products both in Shelby. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher, a member of the Good Fellowship Sunday School Class and the Historical Committee. She was a member of the Richland County Fair Board Auxiliary, Ladies Auxiliary of the Shelby Fire Department, a fifty-plus member of the Union and Hazelgrove Grange, Covered Bridge Society, Ohio Genealogical Society, Richland County and Shelby Genealogical Society, and UAW Local #549 Retirees Club. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn A. and James Fidler of Shelby; a son and daughter-in-law, Willard M. and Chandra McKinney of Shelby; 5 grandchildren: Scott Rush, Jonathan Rush, Candace McKinney, Kyle Fidler, and Kari Fidler; 2 step-grandchildren: Kevin Fidler and Kelly Fidler; a son-in-law and spouse, James and Sharon Rush of Marion; 2 step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Vail of Shelby; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ralph and Dorothy McKinney of Shelby.

Minnie has previously been married to Randall's business associate, Dr. Francis Eschauzier (who d. ca. 1924 in Mexico City, Mexico) with whom she adopted a Mexican child, "Chica." Minnie endowed The Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation, organized in 1950, incorporated in the State of Texas as a non-profit, charitable corporation - see http://www.window.state.tx.us/scholars/mspabout.html - and established the Minnie Stevens Piper Award, a state award that recognizes outstanding college/university teaching throughout the state of Texas. His obituary in the Spanish-language newspaper: " El señor Randall G. Piper dejó de existir en esta ciudad el dia cuatro del actual, a la edad de 74 anos.
