Leach among those who served from Penobscot in the Army during the War Between the States in 18th Maine, Co. G., enlisting 21 Aug 1862, wounded 18 June 1864, discharged from service in 1865 - he apparently was captured 22 June 1864 and imprisoned in the notorious Andersonville Prison. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~drowles/leach/10000037.htm provides his descendants and states "He and John Leach appeared on the census of Aug 16, 1850 at Penobscot, Hancock, Maine. Hafer Jr., Klingerstown, will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, Klingerstown, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Wiest was admitted to the hospital Jan. 1. She was born in Klingerstown area, May 30, 1911, a daughter of the late John and Verdie Schlegel Reed. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Erdman, its Rainbow Class, and was active in Pennsylvania Dutch plays. She was a member of Mahantongo Valley and Tri-Valley Senior Citizens. She was married to Clarence E. Wiest on Dec. 24, 1934, at Lykens. She was preceded in death by two brothers. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Larona Smink, Klingerstown area; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; six sisters, Flossie Reiner, Sunbury, Helen Ramer and Lila Geist, both of Pitman area; Ethel Kohler, Spring Glen, and Violet Jagel and Margaret Enders, both of Millersburg."
