[16596] George Walton administered his estate. The Ordinary [inn] known as The Anchor was deeded to Edward 12 July 1665, and inherited by his wife Martha when Edward died. Edward had an acre on Great Island, served on the jury, etc. "Immigrants to America Appearing in English Records," Frank Smith, p. 14, shows Edward and Martha on ship from England in 1676 (matching the baptism of son John in England in March, 1676). Edward was likely a seaman before he became an inn/tavern keeper. Ancestry.com offers: "West Name Meaning - English and German: from Middle English, Middle High German west 'west', hence a topographic name for someone who lived to the west of a settlement, or a regional name for someone who had migrated from further west."
