He finds a ready market for them. Last week a fox carried off 38 old ones and 92 young ones. Mr. Gifford wants that old fox and her family---will pay $100 for them, we are told."

[37864] Find A Grave memorial 28075301 offers: "Edmund Scarborough was a lawyer and physician by educational training. He migrated to the English Colony of Virginia in 1631 and soon became the largest landholder on the Eastern Shore, owning over one quarter of the land. He was a shipping leader, owning a large shipping fleet that he kept docked in Boston. He was granted the exclusive rights by the King of England to make salt, from sea water, and owned the first such plant in the United States. He also owned one of the earliest shoe and tanning factories in Virginia; along with a malt plant. He was elected to the House of Burgess from 1642 to 1671; he was speaker of the House in 1645. He was Surveyor General of Virginia from 1655 to 1671. The Calvert-Scarborough Line of 1668 divides Maryland and Virginia, which he laid out. In 1660 he was elected High Sheriff of Accomack County and was a the head of the local militia, elected to rank of Colonel. His brother, Sir Charles Scarborough, was the private physician to King Charles II, King James II, and William and Mary of England."
