"The Sentinel [Carlisle, Pennsylvania], 18 July 1988," p. 8: "George E. 'Slicker' Garlin, 79, of Loysville, died Saturday in Carlisle Hospital. He was a former truck driver for Carlisle Tire and Rubber Co. and Mechanicsburg Navy Depot and a milk hauler for Karl Kennedy. An Army veteran of World War II who received the Purple Heart, he was a member of VFW Post No. 7463 in New Bloomfield, Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 50, Tressler Memorial Lutheran Church, American Association of Retired Persons, Landisburg Fire Company, Lan-disburg Ambulance Club and Blain Ambulance Club. Surviving are his wife, Iva B. Garlin; two daughters, Sara A. Rice of RD2 Loysville and Darlene S. Darr of Carlisle; a son, George A. Garlin of Mechanicsburg; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Nickel Funeral Home, Loysville, with the Rev. Arthur Weitschat officiating. Burial will be in Blain Cemetery with full military honors."

He was a self employed farmer retiring in 1960. He was a member of the Suffield United Church of Christ and Akron Mens Garden Club. Mr. Ritzman is survived by his wife, Mildred I.; sons, Harold G. Ritzman, Crossville, Tenn., Wayland L. Ritzman, Uniontown; daughters, Mrs. Fayne E. Fox and Mrs. Pauline M. Fox, both of Suffield, O.; 22 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; brother, Paul E. Ritzman, Uniontown." Arthur and Mildred also had Lyle Lawrence Ritzman (1924-1924).
