He married Susan Ellen Hooper at Bucksport, Maine on April 22, 1865. They had four children together. She later married a Goodwin. Oscar married Hattie Vines on Dec. 15, 1881 in Mendocino Counry Calif. They are buried together near their home. They had four children together. Carrie, Herbert, Frank and Hattie. Pvt Guptill enlisted at Bangor, Maine on September 10, 1862 and was wounded at the battle of Irish Bend, Louisiana on April 14, 1863 and left the service on August 17, 1863."
