[48923] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, ME], 28 May 2021": "Thomaston - Sheldon Robert Harper, 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Thomaston on May 6, 2021. Born May 4, 1933, in Orland, Sheldon was the only child of Robert Ellis and Velma Evelyn (Cunningham) Harper. A graduate of Bucksport High School, the University of Maine and an Army veteran of the Korean War, Sheldon spent his early career working as a mechanical engineer in Massachusetts. Later he owned and operated motels in New Hampshire and Maine as well as a tax preparation business. He retired from his tax business at age 85. One of the passions in his life was raising beagles and hunting with his dogs. He was a life member of the Waterville Beagle Club and a life member of the Thomaston American Legion Post. Sheldon was predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia, and his constant feline companion Pedro. He is survived by an aunt Ethel Cunningham and cousins Eileen Webber, Juanita Cunningham, Anita Geohegan, Victoria Sylva, Charlene Clemons and Jacqueline Reese. Also surviving Sheldon is his sister-in-law Ethelyn Philbrick and family. The family thanks the caregivers who took such good care of Sheldon during the last weeks of his life, allowing him to spend his final days at home as he wished. In keeping with Sheldons wishes, he was cremated and no funeral service was held. Private family burial took place on May 25 at the family lot in Lincolnville."

Mr. Staples was an upright young man, who had no enemies even in political circles and was a favorite with all. He was a farmer by occupation. [24729] The LDS Church's unverified Ancestral File (8L9X-9T) states that Anthony is son of Peter Thatcher (b. 1545/1549 and of, Queen Camel, Somersetshire; buried 7 May 1624 in St. Barnabas Parish, Queen Camel). A file in Ancestry.com offers: "Yarmouth's oldest settler" (by 58littleflower on 2 Apr 2008in Ancestry.com) "Yarmouth on Cape Cod is one of the most beautiful towns on the Cape, and at one time included not only the present Yarmouth but also Dennis, which was made a separate township in 1794. The First Church of Yarmouth was founded in 1639, the early ministers in their order being Rev. Marmaduke Matthews, Rev. John Miller, Rev. Thomas Thornton and Rev. John Cotton, a grandson of John Cotton. It is particularly interesting to learn that one hundred and ninety-one Indians attended this little church during the pastorates of Miller and Thornton. The names of those to whom the first grant was made were Antony Thacher (usually spelled Anthony), Thomas Howes and John Crow, who proceeded at once to organize the town, erecting a fort at Fort Hill near the old cemetery. Anthony Thacher was the oldest settler of the town and the most helpful man in the colony, his descendants being among the leading citizens of Yarmouth and Boston at the present day. The farm now owned by a member of the family, Hon. Thomas C. Thacher, belonged to his ancestor, and in his memory in 1905 he and others of his family placed a stone on the supposed site of the old house; the inscription reads as follows:- Near this Site Lived and Was Buried Antony Thatcher. He came to America in 1635 from Somersetshire England. Shipwrecked on Thacher's Island 1635. Settled in Yarmouth 1639. Three years later the Thacher family gave to the town a road called the Thacher Shore Road, built over what is supposed to be the location of the old Colonial road laid out by the early settlers of Yarmouth. Much of it runs through the Anthony Thacher farm. There is an inscription on a tablet placed at its eastern end, worded as follows:- Thatcher Shore Road - Given to the Town of Yarmouth in memory of Henry C. Thatcher by his wife and children 1908." John was in Little Beaver Twp., Beaver Co., PA in 1810 (census), and appears to be the person named in tax records 1802-15 in this county. In 1820 John Tremains, Jr. is above age 45 in the census of East Union Twp., Wayne Co., OH. In 1830 he is in Baughman Twp., Wayne Co. "History of Woods and Lucas Counties, Ohio" in a biography of Samuel Jewell, 8th child of his daughter Mary, has a report that John Tremains (Samuel's maternal grandfather) lived to be 115 years of age, after enduring hardships including surviving a scalping by Indians. John does not appear in property, tax or probate records in Wayne County. {Research by W. H. He had 3 dau's that married 3 Jewell brothers in Wayne Co., OH. My ancestor is his dau, Mary who married Samuel Jewell in Wayne Co., OH. Both are buried there, however Mary died in Anderson, IN and her body was shipped back to OH." The unverified Brown Family Tree states that John was b. about 1768 in PA and died in 1889 (Find A Grave states he d. about 1829) and that John m. Elizabeth ("Betsey") Judd Pegland (b. about 1775), and that John is son of John Tremains (b. 29 Dec 1747 in PA, d. 1829 in Ontario Co., NY) and Patrience Kellogg (b. 8 Oct 1749 in Sheffield, Hampshire Co., MA, d. 12 Ot 1829 in Cheshire, Ontario Co., NY) - none of this is documented and it appears that these are NOT parents of our John Tremains.

[41108] An unverified Tree in Ancestry.com in 2016 reports "When Conrad Trittenbach was born in 1747 his father, Johann, was 21 and his mother, Anna, was 25. He married Maria Magdalena Brill in 1772. They had 10 children in 27 years. He died on April 29, 1831, in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, having lived a long life of 84 years."
