Mrs. Keck was a kind mother, friend and neighbor and will be missed by all who knew her. She came to the home of her niece early last fall and was tenderly cared for by Mrs. Corman during her last illness. Mrs. Keck was the mother of the following children: Jesse Keck, of Cumberland county; Daniel, deceased; Luther; Minnie, (Mrs. John Dunkleberger) deceased; Rosa, widow of the late D. W. Dunkleberger, of Churchtown, Cumberland county; Annie, (Mrs. George Morrison) of Carlisle; Florence, (Mrs. Robert Foster) and Alice, (Mrs. William Foster) of Duncannon. The funeral was held from the home of Charles Kell on Saturday at 1 o'clock, with services in Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, and burial was made in churchyard adjoining." [8530] Thomas is son of the Rev. Samuel Sherick (AKA Sherrich and Sharick)(1799-1849) and Esther Hurst (1803-1861). Thomas moved in 1846 with his parents to Jackson Twp., Richland Co. OH. He enlisted in Co. H of the 64th Ohio Volunteers for three years of military duty during the War Between the States. "History of Richland County, Ohio..." (Mansfield, OH: A. A. Graham & Co., 1880), pp. 796-7: "Sherrich, Thomas, farmer; he was born in Wayne Co., Ohio, Jan. 18, 1842; when he was about 4 years old his parents left Wayne Co. and settled in Jackson Township ; some three years after his father died, and left his mother to take care of the family and pay some debts which was against the farm; and by economy and industry the farm was saved and the debts all paid; the subject of this sketch worked upon the farm until the fall of 1861, when he enlisted in Co. H, 64th O. V. I. for the term of three years ; Capt. Lord commanded the company. They went into camp at Mansfield, and remained about six weeks ; they then went to Louisville, Ky., and joined the army of the Cumberland, and he was in most of the engagements in which his regiment participated; the regiment belonged to the 4th Army Corps, Third Division ; he was discharged at Cincinnati in February, 1864, having served three years and four months. He is an excellent farmer and an honorable and respected citizen. He was married to Miss Catherine A. Briner January, 1867; they had two interesting girls."
