"The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 21 September 1937, p. 45: "Augusta, Sept. 20 - Frank E. Mace, 74, former Democratic Representative to the Legislature and twice State Land Agent and Forest Commissioner, died at his home here yesterday. Among the many positions he held during an active career in politics and civic affairs Mr. Mace was local chairman of NRA and PHA committees, former president of the Augusta Kiwanis Club, and served several years as president of the Augusta General Hospital. He also was identified with many local charitable and philanthropic organizations. He was born in Aurora and came to Augusta in 1911 as State Representative from his class towns. At the conclusion of that session he was appointed Land Agent and Forest Commissioner by Gov. Frederick W. Plaisted, which position he filled for two years, returning to it again in 1915 by appointment of Gov. Oakley C Curtis. He was elected to the Legislature again in 1935 as Representative from Augusta. On Oct. 12, 1920 he was married to Mrs. Hulda Sewall of Augusta, who survives him, also a son, Bryan Mace of Gardiner and a daughter of his first marriage. Mr. Mace also was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Augusta Abenaki Club and the Augusta Country Club."
An Internet correspondent (Jan A. Koso - KosoGenealogy@aol.com) stated in 2003: "Frank Elivn7(Ansel Jefferson6, George5, William4, Richard3, Andrew2, Robert1) Mace was born Aurora, Maine, 11 June 1859(?), and died Augusta, Maine, 20 September 1937. He married Great Pond Plantation, Maine, 19 January 1885, Ruby Gray Williams. It is appears that the couple divorced in the early 1930s. As of 1941 Hulda S. (-----) is listed as widow of Frank E. and residing house 31 Winthrop Street, Augusta, Maine. He was a State Senator and later the Forest Commissioner." Ms. Koso also provided his ancestry and other information; she has two dates for Frank's birth, 11 June 1859(?) and 11 June 1864.
