He was an active writer who has had pieces published in Downrast Magazine, Blair and Ketchum's Country Journal, and several college text books. . . . Mr. Carter is survived by his wife Loreta (Beal) Carter; three children, Mrs. Ronald (Jane) Cronin of Cape Elisabeth, Mrs. Richard (Barbara) Arbour of North Vassalboro and Gena Carter of Bangor; five grandchildren, Kenneth E. Cronin, Pamela B. Cronin and Jennifer L. Cronin all of Cape Elizabeth, Matthew G. Carter and Mark G. Carter, both of Bangor. . . .
