[2687] http://www.earlybritishkingdoms.com/bios/budic2by.html reports: "Budic II, King of Brittany (Born c.AD 460) (Welsh: Buddig; Latin: Budicius; English: Budick) Not to be confused with his uncle and namesake, Budic was called by his title, Emyr Llydaw (Emperor of Brittany) by the Welsh. He apparently married the sister of High-King Arthur of Britain. The lady is usually assumed to have been Anna, but there are indications that Elaine (Elen) was his true wife. He is thus, probably, the original of King Nentres (a corrupt form of Emyr) who was mistakenly given the realm of Anna's husband, Garlot (Caer-Lot). He may also be connected with the literary King Ban of Benwick (sometimes Brittany). It was probably during his cousin's usurpation of the Breton throne that Budic fled to Britain, along with his father and the Breton fleet. They took refuge at the court of King Aircol Lawhir of Dyfed, where another cousin, Amon Ddu was an important official. Here, Budic met and married his second wife, Anowed, the sister of St. Teilo. The two settled in Britain and lived there for many years during which time Anowed gave birth to two sons. During her third pregnancy though, messengers arrived announcing that the Breton King (probably the childless Rivod) was dead and that his people desired Budic to be their King. So he returned in triumph to a kingdom that became known as Cornouaille Budic in his honour. It was during Budic's reign that, an old legend says, Breton armies first became invincible on horseback. During a visit of St. Teilo to Brittany, Budic, his brother-in-law, persuaded the saint to rid his lands of a terrible dragon that was terrorising the countryside. With much prayer, Teilo was able to subdue the beast and he tied it to a rock in the sea. Afraid that it would return without Teilo's protection, Budic created his brother-in-law the Bishop of Dol. Teilo entered the city upon a divine white steed given him by an angel. This, he later presented to the King with the promise that his cavalry would always be victorious in battle. Budic may have ruled jointly with his son, Hoel I Mawr (the Great) in his later years. He eventually died in 545, having left his grandson and heir, Tewdwr, in the care of King Macliau of the Vannetais."

He was born in Three Rivers on May 28, 1951 the son of Herbert and Veronica (Huntowski) Johnson. Bob graduated from Mendon High School in 1969 and later attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College. He was a devoted and loving father, brother, and uncle. He loved spending time with his son, sisters, and family. He was a musician who loved Rock & Roll music, the guitar, and keyboard, and enjoyed jamming with various bands. He enjoyed sports cars and working on them with his son. He loved taking care of his home and animals. He enjoyed golf and going to ballgames with his best friend, Mike Samson and working out at the gym. Bob was a Tool and die maker and a Cutter Grinder and had worked at National Water Lift, American Axel, and most recently at International Auto Corp (IAC)in Mendon. Bob is survived by his son, two sisters, five nieces, and several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son's mother, Deborah Jenuwine; and a nephew, Ryan Osborn."

[47120] Find A Grave memorial 6903042 offers: "The son of Jacob & Margaretta (Kline) Kiner, he married Isabel Esterline August 25, 1857, in Perry County, Pennsylvania, and fathered John Clay (b. 03/10/59), Mary Ann (b. 097/04/60), George Washington (b. 04/02/63), Abraham Lincoln (b. 11/16/64), Sallie J. (b. 01/10/75), and Bessie May (b. 10/30/86). In 1860, he was a laborer living with his in-laws in Tyrone Township, Perry County, and stood 5' 5" tall with brown hair and gray eyes. A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Chambersburg February 23, 1864, and mustered into federal service there February 25 as a private with Co. D, 187th Pennsylvania Infantry. Wounded at Petersburg, Virginia, June 18, 1864, he was hospitalized in Washington DC. Then he arrived in New York City on September 12, 1864, to be hospitalized there but had no paperwork with him and three days later transferred to the hospital in York. All this suggest that either he or the army had mixed up the two cities. The army did not know where he was because he was listed as a deserter, date and location not stated. On February 2, 1867, the War Department removed the outstanding desertion charge, and formally discharged him by surgeon's certificate to date June 3, 1865. He died in Tyrone Township from 'organic heart disease.'"

Stroh, nee Fannie Leitzel, a former resident of Schuylkill Haven, died at her home in Sunbury last Friday morning at nine o'clock. A complication of diseases was the cause of her death. She was confined to her bed for the past nine weeks. Mre. Stroh had been in ill health for the past three years. Deceased was 68 years of age. She was born in Schuylkill Haven but left about forty years ago to locate in Sunbury. Deceased was the daughter of Moses and Eliza Weiser Leitzel, the latter being a decendant of the well-known Conrad Weiser. Her husband met death on the railroad five years ago. Two sons survive, namely: Frank C. and Raymond W. of Sunbury. These sisters survive: Mrs. C. S. Commings and Mrs. William Stitzer of Schuylkill Haven, Mrs. Mary Wahlen of Phila."

[50332] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine], 5 May 2008": "Orrington - Thelma Olive (Perkins) Bowden, 96, wife of the late Donald F. Bowden, died May 3, 2008, surrounded by her family at a Bangor health care facility. Born Oct. 5, 1911, at the family homestead on King's Mountain, Mrs. Bow-den was the eldest child of Raymond L. and Gladys A. (Hillier) Perkins. She attended Orrington schools and graduated from Brewer High School in 1929. After graduating from Maine School of Commerce, which later became Husson College, Mrs. Bowden worked at Webber Motors, the local Ford dealership at the time. She married Donald F. Bowden in 1934 and moved to the farm adjoining that of her parents, which Mr. Bowden had purchased in 1932. They farmed for decades, raising dairy cows and beef cattle, vegetable crops, apples, wood products and six sons. In later years, Thelma and Donald delivered apples and their homemade cider to customers along a route that extended as far as Bradley, Milford and Old Town. Mrs. Bowden was active in both Orrington Center and Orrington Corner Methodist churches, and those who attended their suppers remembered her biscuits and pies. She was an 80-year member of Enterprise Grange No. 173. In 2007 Mrs. Bowden was recognized as Orrington's eldest citizen and presented with the town's Boston Post cane at a special ceremony hosted by the town selectmen. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years in 1992; her sister, Beulah (Perkins) Bowden in 2006; and a son, Paul R. Bowden in 2007. Surviving are her sons, Richard L. Bowden and his wife, Charlene, of Eddington, Philip E. Bowden and his wife, Nancy, of Savannah, Ga., Barry Bowden and his wife, Dinah, of Pisgah Forest, N.C., Brian Bow-den and his wife, Darlene, of Orrington and Keith Bowden and his wife, Heather, of Windham; daughter-in-law, Patricia Bowden of Niantic, Conn.; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean-ette Durgain of Clarksdale, Ariz.; her brother, Raymond L. Perkins Jr. of Orrington; many nieces and nephews."
