[30291] From George A. Wheeler's "History of Castine, Penobscot and Brooksville, Maine" (privately printed in Cornwall, NY, 1923). p. 169: "Mr. Mark Hatch, was born August 14, 1746, in the town of Scituate, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. His wife's name was Abigail. She was born in Marshfield, Massachusetts, May 20, 1746, and died in this town on November 30, 1831. Mr. Hatch was one of the four original settlers here prior to the Revolutionary war. He owned the northeastern portion of the peninsula. He removed his family sometime after the British took possession of the place, at the time of the Revolution, but returned here about 1785. He is said to have been the builder of the windmill which formerly stood near the west entrance of the cemetery. He had four sons. Mark Hatch, Jr., was born at this place, November 6, 1771, it being a part of Lincoln County; Jonathan, was born August 28, 1774; John, was born October 19th, 1777; and James, October 21, 1779. He also had three daughters; Abigail, born March 9, 1783, died December 27, 1796; Eggathy Phillips, born April 19, 1785; and Lucy, born March 20, 1787. Mr. Hatch, the father, died in this town, August 5, 1833." Ancestry.com offers: "Hatch Name Meaning - English (mainly Hampshire and Berkshire): topographic name from Middle English hacche 'gate', Old English hæcc (see Hatcher). In some cases the surname is habitational, from one of the many places named with this word. This name has been in Ireland since the 17th century, associated with County Meath and the nearby part of Louth."

[25896] An unverified Colcord Family Tee in Ancestry.com in 2017 offers: "When Lydia Strout was born in 1770 in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, her father, Jonathan, was 25, and her mother, Sarah, was 19. She married William Morton on November 29, 1787, in her hometown. They had nine children in 23 years. She died in May 1842 in Corinna, Maine, at the age of 72." Virginia Horler states Lydia is daughter of Jonathan Strout and Sarah Strout and remarks: "Lydia was living with son William Strout Morton at the time of his death in 1842. 'He was sitting up in a chair in the company of his aged mother, he asked her to pass him the Bible and died.' (Morning Star of May 25, 1842)."
