[51135] "The Ellsworth American [ Ellsworth, Maine], 24 February 2014": "Brooksville - Victor E. Dyer, 76, died Feb. 19, 2014, at St. Josephs Hospital in Bangor. He was born March 24, 1937, in Castine, son of D. Elwin and Evelyn G. (Candage) Dyer. Vic grew up in Harborside and graduated from Brooksville High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1959, after which he returned home to marry his wife, Lorraine (Noessel) Dyer. He spent most of his life as a self-employed building contractor and was widely known for his incredible talent for woodworking. He also enjoyed vegetable gardening with his wife, Lorraine, and more recently a new hobby, winemaking, which he enjoyed sharing with a thirsty neighbor. Though he rarely expressed his love for his family and friends, he made his affections known through the gifts he made with his hands. He loved the outdoors and all the bounty it offered - cutting his own wood, hunting, clamming and berrying. As he wasnt a religious man, nature was his church. Vic was an extremely hardworking man who instilled those ethics in his children. He will be dearly missed by all. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine of Brooksville; daughter, Evangeline and companion, Roy Sprague Jr., of Lamoine; son, Benjamin; grandson, Blaine, both of Brooksville; brother, Elmer Dyer and wife, Magda; sisters, Alice Dyer and Dorothy Bakeman; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Verna Dyer and Nellie Moores; brothers, Linwood, George, and D. Frederick Dyer."
