"Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 6 October 2022: "Orono - Robert A. Cobb, 80, passed away September 29, 2022, surrounded by his family after valiantly battling cancer, at a Bangor hospital. Bob was born in Augusta October 19, 1941, the son of Willis and Aldea (Maheux) Cobb, growing up on a dairy farm in Winthrop. He balanced farm chores starting at 4 a.m., three sports and numerous extracurricular activities, graduating as Valedictorian from Winthrop High School. It was there he met the love of his life and soulmate, Shayne Lee Dooling, and married her on August 26, 1961. He earned his bachelor's and doctoral degrees from Springfield College where he played and coached football. In 1977, he became dean of the UMaine College of Education, serving in this capacity for thirty years and retiring as the longest-serving education dean in the country. Two of Bob's most notable accomplishments were spearheading a movement to raise the aspirations of Maine youth and promoting positive learning environments for young athletes through the initiative Sports Done Right, which became a national model. Throughout his career, he was surrounded by exemplary colleagues whom he held in high regard. Some of Bob's favorite pastimes were spending time at his house in Surry, carpentry projects in his garage workshop, preparing legendary Thanksgiving meals, phone calls with longtime family friend, Walter Abbott, and reading (often in his truck while Shayne was shopping). Both he and Shayne enjoyed volunteering, planting and maintaining gardens at Orono town signs and participating in Wreaths Across America. A loyal New England sports fan, he attended many UMaine athletic events. He loved meeting with his 6 a.m. 'coffee crew' at Pat's and McDonald's.
Bob had unparalleled love for his family, and no one more than Shayne. Throughout his illness, she was his primary concern. He remained a steadfast, loving presence in the lives of his two children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren from the day they were born. Bob was a mentor to many, both personally and professionally. He was a true gentleman - kind, genuine, and humble. He was the epitome of hard work, integrity, devotion and generosity. Whether in the role of Dean, Dad, Bob, or Grandad, his caring knew no bounds. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Shayne, are his daughter, Tracy and her husband, Owen, of Orono; son, Casey and his wife, Sheri Peabody, of Connecticut; five grandchildren, Chelsea Drew and her husband, Eric, of Orono; Chloe Lewis and her husband, Nate, of Bangor; Caleigh Paul, of Bangor, Caden and Sedona Cobb, of Connecticut; three great-grandsons, Connor and Charlie Drew and Jack Lewis; brother, Dick Cobb and his wife, Betty; sister, Sue and her husband, Jerry Doughty; brother-in-law, Brad Dooling and his wife, Michele; brother-in-law, Kelly Dooling and his wife, Ann; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brother, Bill."

[1460] For an extended discussion of the puzzle of her parentage, see "England Under the Angevin Kings," Kate Norgate (N.Y.: Haskel House, 1969), Vol. 1, pp. 190ff. See Constance of Provance, which I also show as wife of Robert II, King of France, for an alternate ancestry of Constance. A note associated with her grave in http://www.findagrave.com states: "Born the daughter of Guillaume III Taillefer, Comte de Provence and Adelaide d'Anjou about 973. About 1001 she became the third wife of Robert II of France. His previous wife, Bertha of Burgundy was cousin to Pope Gregory V who would not sanction the marriage to Constance and Robert was excommunicated. After extended negotiations, however, with a new Pope, Silvester II, the marriage to Bertha was finally annulled. The Burgundians remained Constance's political opponants and her marriage contentious. At her urging, their eldest son, Hugues, was crowned co-king to his father in 1017. Hugues' open rebellion in 1025 failed and he fled, dying the following year a fugitive. She encourage further revolt from her sons, and by 1029 the king was at was with his sons Henri and Robert. The king died in the field in 1031 at Melun, France, and Henri succeeded him as Henri I though Constance favored Robert for the throne. She retired from court upon Henri's accension and formed a powerful insurgency against him, seizing her dower lands and driving Henri into Normandy, where he allied there with the Duke. He returned to besiege his mother at at her hold in Poissy, and although she escaped, she eventually surendered to Henri. She died soon after at about age 60, and was buried beside her husband. She has occasionally been referred to as Constance de Taillefer or Constance de Provence." Cf. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constance_of_Arles.

Eileen was predeceased by her beloved family members; her mother and father, her husband Derward W. Perkins; her sisters, Evangeline Burnett and Jeanne Smith; her brother, Larry Lapointe; her sons, Wayne A. Perkins and James 'Jimmy' Perkins. She is survived by her children, Randall and Diane Perkins of Bangor, Maine, Gary Perkins and Diana de los Santos of San Antonio, Texas, and Lee and Sheila Anderson of Winter Haven, FL; her grandchildren, Frank and Adrienne Rauccio, Michelle Eileen Frye, Tyler Barringer and Samantha Perkins, and Gregoy Perkins; and her great-grandchildren, James and Breana Ingram, Trey Cooper, Isabella Frye, Silas Perkins, Blake Barringer, Jackson Barringer, Tyler Hoagland, Brenley Hoagland, Roman Rauccio; and many nieces and nephews. Everyone was special to Eileen. Family was everything to her. She married her husband Derward in Guilford, Maine in 1947 and they had five children together before he passed in 1970. Derward was a Senior Master Sargent in the U.S. Air Force. Eileen was a great military wife, constantly moving across the United States and Canada and bravely holding down the home front while Derward was deployed overseas to Japan for a year and then again to Thule, Greenland. Their final move together in 1964 was to Dover-Foxcroft, Maine, where he retired from the Air Force. After her husband's sudden death Eileen finished raising her children by herself, the youngest child only 4 years old. She never remarried. She was a strong and wonderful woman. Her home was always open to her children's friends as they were growing up. There was always room for one more at her plentiful table. She was known for her great cooking and singing while she cooked. You could hear her throughout the house and knew something tasty was being prepared. She was also famous for her contagious laugh, always laughing and chatting with everyone she met. She moved from Maine to Winter Haven, FL in 1976 with her youngest son Gary. She loved to dance particularly the Jitterbug and Polka. For many years she loved to attend the afternoon tea dances at the Winter Haven American Legion, often accompanied by her long time friend and neighbor from Dover Foxcroft, Maine, Greta Lanpher. She had a lot of fun, memories and friends at these Legion dances. She also loved to sing especially with her two sisters, Evangeline and Jeanne. When they were young the pretty trio 'the LaPointe Sisters' would occasionally entertain at small town grange halls and school functions. And what would a birthday be without a phone call from her singing Happy Birthday to you! Until she was 90, she often could be seen sporting around town in her little yellow Thunderbird Sports car. Another example of her outgoing and youthful spirit. Eileen was a much loved, unique and cherished woman and will be missed everyday forever. She will be put to rest next to her husband and two sons at the family plot in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine."
