[7686] George is son of George Arnold (Sr) who was a weaver in Greenwich Twp., Berks Co., PA with 100 acres in 1780. George (Sr) was a Lutheran Elder at New Bethel Zion Church, 1775-86. His wife, Barbara, is listed there as a widow in Nov., 1791. George (Jr) and Catherine continued in the area, in Albany Twp., until about 1793, then moving to a farm in that part of Toboyne Twp., Perry Co., which became Madison Twp. in 1836. They were life-long Lutherans. George Arnold (Sr.) is perhaps he (aka Johann George Arnold) who arrived in Philadelphia in Oct 1738 on the Ship Elizabeth from Rotterdam -- see "Pennsylvania German Pioneers...," Ralph Beaver Strassburger (Camden, ME: Picton Press, 1992), I:243-245 - or he may be the "Georg Arnold" who arrived in Philadelphia in Oct 1737 on the Ship Billinder Townsend from Amsterdam (ibid, I:185-187). Ancestry.com offers: "Arnold Name Meaning - English and German: from a very widely used personal name of Germanic origin, composed of the elements arn ‘eagle’ + wald ‘rule’. In addition, it has probably absorbed various European cognates and their derivatives (for the forms, see Hanks and Hodges 1988). English: habitational name from either of the two places called Arnold (see Arnall)."

[26528] Clayton D. Hutchins posted in the Waldo Co., ME GenWeb site "His parents moved to Knox, Hancock County, [now Waldo County], Maine about 1803. John married Roxana Caroline Hatch in Knox in 1812 with the ceremony performed by Elder Ebenezer Hamblin. . . . . John Hutchins appears to have purchased one hundred acres of land from his father in 1813 soon after his marriage to Roxanna, but then sold it back to his father two years later. It is not yet known where he and his family lived from 1815 until his death in 1818. John Hutchins apparently died in April 1818 of a logging accident, leaving his wife and three small children. However, the only evidence found other than Fred Hutchins research notes which did not list sources, is Roxana's marriage to George Swett of Knox, Maine in March 1820. Roxana apparently died on 30 Apr 1825 in Knox, Maine, at 30 years of age and the children appear to have been raised by grandparents, Henry and Rhoda Hutchings."
