[13897] Floyd's "Northumberland County Genealogy," p. 815: John H. Geist, son of Abraham, lived for a number of years in Upper Mahanoy township, of which he was one of the best known residents in his day. He was a most enterprising business man, a merchant, huckster, butcher, hotel-keeper and farmer, owned Leck Kill and several large farms there, was postmaster at Leck Kill, and in every way the leading spirit of the place. For ten years before his death he conducted the "Central House" at Williamstown, Dauphin county, and his son John has succeeded him as proprietor of this place. He died there in 1905, at the age of sixty-one years. His widow, Harriet (Beisel), is still living at Williamstown. They had children: Wilson O., William B., Anson, Charles, James, Martin, John and Laura (married to George Troutman and living in Snyder county)."

[6750] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, ME], 9 September 2021": "Seaford, Va. and Aurora - Don and Charlotte Whitman, loving couple with adventurous spirit, passed away from declining health within months of each other, supported by loving family in Philadelphia, where they had recently relocated to from Seaford, Va., to be close to family. Donald Barton Whitman, 91, was born on July 20, 1929, in Sommerville, Mass., and raised in Bangor. He passed away on May 14, 2021, in Philadelphia, Pa. Don was the son of Donald and Rena Whitman. Charlotte Mace Whitman, 96, was born and raised in Aurora on July 28, 1925, and passed on July 20, 2021, in Philadelphia, Pa. Charlotte was the daughter of Asa Russell and Gladyce T. Mace of Aurora. Dons career as an electrical engineer moved the family around the country. They lived in Alaska, Arizona, California and Maine and finally settled in Seaford, Va. Don and Charlotte were true adventurers. They traveled and visited many friends and family in their famous Rialta over the years, consistently returning to their roots in Maine for the summer season. They devoted time between their cherished cottage in Harpswell and the Aurora farm where they ran their historic blueberry stand on the corner of Route 179 and Route 9 for close to 50 years. They are survived by children, Gayle Gleason of Bar Harbor, Lisa Whitman Seligsohn and Jeff Seligsohn of Philadelphia and Phyllis Whitman Starensier of Aspen. They were predeceased by their son, Trent Gleason. Don and Charlotte loved their many grandchildren, who included Gwen Marbach, Ian and Isaac Pina, Ben, Noa and Sophia Seligsohn and Zoe and Zack Starensier. There are many nieces and nephews as well who have many wonderful memories of their beloved Aunt and Uncle."

Born Oct. 30, 1913, in Mifflintown, she was daughter of the late Harry and Margaret (Kauffman) Zeiders. She was a member of New Bloomfield United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school; a retired licensed practical nurse, and was retired from the Harrisburg State Hospital. Mrs. Briner also was a member of the New Bloomfield Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. The widow of Frank A. Briner Sr., she is survived by two sons, Frank A. Briner Jr. and John H. Briner, both of New Bloomfield; a daughter, Doreen Frymoyer of Liverpool; two sisters, Evelyn Briner of New Bloomfield and Marion Hostetter of Carlisle, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Martin Zeiders."
