[56345] Peter's obituary: "Peter D. Mayo, 71, passed away unexpectedly at his home on August 27, 2019. Peter was born in Castine, the son of Annie Louise (Pellum) and Walter Mayo. In 1966 Peter graduated from Bucksport High School. After high school Peter enlisted in the Air Force and served from 1967-1971 during the Vietnam era. He was a retired member of Local Union 1253 IBEW. Peter enjoyed mackerel fishing with his "best bud" father-in-law, Fred Atwood; brother-in-law, Jay Philpott; and good friend, Walter Browning. Peter also had a passion for his vegetable garden and sharing his harvest with family and friends. He enjoyed working on his property and keeping it well kept and enjoyed working in his wood shop. Peter is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Gloria (Atwood) Mayo; daughter, Carrie Buechler and husband, Stephen, of Westland, Michigan; son, Brian Mayo and wife, Megan, of Chaska, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Madalynn, Keanen and Kira Mayo, whom he adored; stepmother, Luverne Mayo of Ft. Myers, Florida; two sisters, Bonnie Ross and Roxanne Kopke, both of Ellsworth; father-in-law, Fred Atwood and wife, Betsy; sister-in-law, June Philpott and husband, Jay; brothers-in-law, Allen Atwood and wife, Kathy, and Mark Atwood and wife, Kiki; along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents."
