Deceased came to California thirty years ago and located at Powellton, Butte county, and followed the pursuit of farming on a small scale. Later he was joined by his wife and children from Maine. Quite a number of years ago he located at West Branch, where he became proprietor of the hotel at that place. From his connection with this hostelry and his kindly nature he made many friends, who will regret to hear of his passing. As old age approached, Mr. Day disposed of his interests at West Branch and seven years ago located in Chico, where he since made his home. Deceased leaves a wife, three daughters - Mrs. J. Hicks of Seattle, Mrs. F.W. Lake of Oakland and Mrs. T.W. Harris of Chico - and a sister, Mrs. Sheldon Gray of Chico."

[55965] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine]," 5 March 2024: "Ellsworth - Claire F. Wallace, 85, died unexpectedly on Feb. 27, 2024, at her home. She was born April 6, 1938, in Ellsworth to Clarence and Thelma (Fullerton) Morgan. She graduated from Ellsworth High School and then became involved in the business of retail sales. Claire worked in her earlier years at Ames and Zayers and other old-time establishments. She most recently spent her work life at Renys, 'The Maine Adventure,' where she had worked for almost 30 years. Claire had been married to Bill Sawyer and later Edmond Wallace. These marriages have given her the children that made her family complete. She loved animals, especially horses and donkeys. She could remember the names of the horses better than the names of people. Claire is survived by a daughter, Angela Sawyer, of Virginia; three sons, Kevin Sawyer and Kelly Wallace and wife, Laura, all of Ellsworth, and Davis Hazelton and wife, Sandy, of Manchester, N.H.; 14 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was predeceased by both her husbands and a sister, Harriet Buzzell."
