"Biographical Annals of Cumberland County, Pennsylvania," (Chicago: The Genealogical Publishing Co., 1905), p. 325 offers: "Michael Garman was born in Dauphin county Sept. 24, 1835, and was brought to Cumberland county when only three years of age, being reared within its confines, and receiving a fair education at the schools of Silver Spring township. After attaining his majority he married Hannah Susan (Albright) Garman, widow of his brother Benjamin, and assumed the care of his three children, caring for them as though they were his own. Six children were born to himself and wife: Emma married H. A. Thomman, a farmer of Middlesex township. Benjamin F. is our subject. George married Miss Anna Burget, and is now living in Frankford township, and they have eight children. Suvillia married John Young, lives in Plainfield, Pa., and has eight children. Alice married Clayton Snell, of Silver Spring township, and they have two children. Ida married Leonard W. Ziegler, a sketch of whom appears elsewhere."

'Maggie' Gower Dublin Sheehy, passed away in the embrace of her family at home in Ellsworth on Dec. 4, 2023, at the age of 94. Maggie was born in Garland on June 15, 1929, to parents Harold and Vesta Gower. She graduated from Erskine Academy, class of 1948. After graduation, Maggie moved to Belfast and raised three children. She was a Brownie, Girl Scout, and Boy Scout leader, and a member of the Jaycees. After raising her children, she worked in Augusta for the Dept. of Environmental Protection. Maggie retired to Lamoine and was well known at local craft shows for her Maine-themed table linens. She was a lifelong crafter and seamstress, generously sharing her passion for textiles and stitching with family and friends throughout her life. Maggie is survived by her partner, Dominic DeMonte of Ellsworth, and her three children, Cindy Dublin-Morin and her husband, Dan, of New Harbor, Beth Dublin Graham and her husband, Ray, of Sullivan, and Lou Dublin and his fiancée, Jan Crosby Banks of Morrill: grandchildren Jeremiah, Corey, and Benjamin Graham, Elise Dublin Rossi, Aaron, Ethan, Nathan, and Caleb Dublin. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, several nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters."

Born at Sullivan June 3, 1878, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Laura Burke Phillips. Find A Grave Memorial 47432390 offers: "Adolphe (Dutch) Storey recently passed away. Most were unaware of Dutch's incredible life journey of transcendence over a childhood steeped in loss, abandonment, and daunting adversity. Dutch's parents died in successive years before he turned 10 years old. He was placed into an orphanage by his surviving aunt and other extended family members who violated a death bed promise to care for young Dutch. After multiple attempts at running away from an orphanage, and other substitute care settings, he finally succeeded at 14, hopping a freight train from New York to be with his sister in California, who took him in. Enduring yet another loss, his 22-year old sister succumbed within the year. Dutch returned to the East Coast and was again placed into substitute care. Throughout his schooling, he somehow managed to excel academically and yet was deprived opportunities to participate in extra curricular activities. Birthdays and Christmases were largely unknown affairs. However, instead of giving up and falling along the wayside of life, Dutch adapted and ultimately triumphed over the long odds against him, armed solely with fierce determination to make his parents proud. Dutch first answered our nation's call to arms in World War II by enlisting in the Air Force in 1943. He quickly made a mark with his outstanding physical fitness, razor sharp intelligence, 20-15 eyesight, and fearlessness. He distinguished himself as a boxer on the Air Force boxing team and became the youngest officer in the Air Force at the time. As a B-29 flight engineer, Dutch flew bombing missions over Germany. At the conclusion of the war, Dutch then set his sights on becoming a fighter pilot. He demonstrated that he had the 'right stuff' by earning the much coveted fighter wings. In 1948, Dutch was privileged to fly P-51 Mustangs, his favorite, along with F-80's, F84's, and F86's. In 1950, Dutch was deployed to Korea and flew a heavy schedule of combat missions the first year of the Korean War as a seasoned fighter pilot. Despite the hardening effects of war, Dutch was especially moved by the plight of Korean orphans and did what he could to relieve their sufferings during his down time in country. After returning Stateside, Dutch resigned from the Air Force, his only family at the time, to embark upon building a civilian life with his young bride. Dutch channeled his passion for flying fighters into full blown pursuit of a law degree. He fondly recalled his fascination with the language, genius, and logic of the law. From this point on he devoted the remainder of his life to the law. To make ends meet Dutch juggled outside jobs with studying. He never complained and never quit, just like the boxer he was, always driven by his burning resolve to make his parents proud. Dutch won numerous scholarships from some of the top law schools in the country, a plethora of academic honors, and other prestigious awards. An Honor student and champion debater, Dutch was nominated by faculty to a national conference at West Point to debate and discuss 'Communism and its Influence in the World' in 1953. In 1967 Dutch was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar and has been practicing general law in Springfield and East Longmeadow ever since. He always put his family first and stressed to his children the importance of education, respect, clean living, compassion for the less fortunate, and, above all, God and country. Dutch's early life seared an uncompromising aversion to excuse making, waste and laziness, and a reverence for drive and perseverance. Those who were closest to Dutch loved his irreverent sense of humor, boyish smile, and hearty laugh. He told excellent jokes, and had a gift for a quick turn of a phrase. Dutch was a multifaceted man who epitomized the Greek ideals of mind, body, and spirit. In addition to his intellectual gifts, he embraced physical culture and spiritual pursuits. He was once scouted as Mr. America material while in the service. He was a lifelong member of the YMCA and area health clubs since 1955. Dutch loved to swim, jog, lift weights, pound the heavy bag, and was a fierce competitor on the handball and racquetball courts. Dutch also enjoyed playing golf, chess, motor cycling, and shooting his 45 service pistol at the range. Dutch remained a voracious reader until the end, devouring books on subjects as diverse as Philosophy, Middle East History, Economics, Politics, and Psychology. The night he passed away, such books were left open on his desk, capturing his attention only minutes before his passing, testaments to his insatiable thirst to learn more about the world and better himself. To his family who include his beloved wife Joan of 60 years, his five children, and two grandchildren, Dutch shall always remain an inspiration and a hero. He was, and is, greatly loved, and will always maintain a living presence in our hearts as we continue to cherish his memory."

[58314] Barry's obituary: "Barry M. Tibbetts, 73, of Bingham, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at his home in Bingham. Barry was born in Skowhegan on December 19, 1946, a son of Blaine and Jeannette (Hilton) Tibbetts. He was educated in the local schools,later he received a Bachelor's Degree in forestry. He worked for more than 30 years as a professional forester, employed by Scott Paper, S D Warren and finally Plum Creek. He was a communicant of St. Peter's Church in Bingham, As an avid gardener with two large vegatable gardens, he would provide fresh vegatables the friends, family and half of the town. He was always proud of the vegatables. Barry enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, being outdoors, camping and the annual family trip to Hermit Island for the past 47 years, he also loved to travel and had visited many of the national parks throughout the United States. He was predeceased by his parents as well as an uncle, Keith Tibbetts. Barry leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Violet (West) Tibbetts, three sons, Daniel Tibbetts and his wife Amanda, Mark Tibbetts and his wife Tina and Jeffrey Tibbetts and his partner Maria. His grandchildren Kade, Kobe and Taylor Tibbetts, Nick Farley, Sydnee Skidgell, Sierra Clark, Rowan and Logan Tibbetts. He is also survived by his great grandchildren , Quinn and Paityn Skidgell, Layla and Conner Clark and Liam Tibbetts, as well as his brother Gary Tibbetts and his wife Bette, his brother in-laws, Jim West and his wife Linda and Donny West and his wife Brenda and many nieces and nephews."
