[52698] "Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 18 January 2023: "Medway - On January 10, 2023, John R. Bunker 'Big John,' 82, passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a short illness. John was born on June 3, 1940, in Franklin, Maine to Alvah and Frieda Bunker. He graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1958 and enlisted in the Air Force. He moved back to Maine in 1963 and met the love of his life, Charlene. The story goes, once he saw her, he never left her. They were married on May 25, 1968, had two children and lived in the same house for 54 years. They taught their children and grandchildren the meaning of love and devotion. John was a master mechanic and was hired by the Great Northern Paper Company to work in the Woodlands Division. After he left GNP, he decided to open a small engine repair business out of his garage at home. He was happiest at home but loved to hunt and fish. John is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Charlene. Death is the only thing that would ever have separated them. He is also survived by his children, John Bunker, Joyce Thibeault and her husband, Gary; his granddaughter, Lillian Hopkins Lewis and her husband, Sheldon; and great-grandson, Silas Gladstone; grandson, Mark Hopkins; his bonus son, Joseph Day, his wife, Melanie, and their son, Tucker; Priscilla Farringto; Dwayne and Peggy Stanley; and OC and Fran Stanley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Alvah and Frieda Bunker; his brother, Phillip Bunker; his sister, Nannette Ross; and his in-laws, Robert Farrington, and Charles and Francine Stanley."

[1773] See http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfonso_VII_de_León. Alfonso VII, known as "The Emperor" via honor given Leon as representative of Visigoth kings who represented Roman Emperor; crowned Emperor in 1135; died returning from unsuccessful campaign against the Almohades, in the Pass of Muradel in the Sierra Morena, en route to Toledo..."a great king...but more than half oriental in his household". [7741] David Fletcher of Richmond, VA offered via email in July, 2003: "Maude Fletcher was a daughter of Henry Clay Fletcher and Judith Means Fletcher, both of Bedford Co., PA. Maude, along with her younger sister Ada, and brother Homer, were the three children of Henry Clay and Judith that survived. Older siblings Isabelle and Leonard had died as infants in Everett, PA, where the family lived prior to relocating to Brownsville. The Fletcher line I know quite well (German origins, believe it or not; anglicized in the mid-1700s); the Means line I have a little less on. The Fletcher family's original spelling was "Floesser," and hailed from the mountains near Heidelberg. As an unexpected sidelight, immigrant Jacob Floesser's wife was Anna Margaretha Reichardt, not too dissimilar to the Rickard predecessors, I should think. I was in Heidelberg last Spring, and the Floesser family persists even today...not plentiful, but they're still there."
