He was elected deputy (representative) to the MA General Court (legislature) in 1643 and 1646, and was one of three men appointed "wearesmen" or official river fishermen for life at Dover, NH. He was given permission in 1647 to erect a sawmill and entered the lumber business with Richard Waldron. He was fined for professing "anabaptism." He later moved to Nantucket, and in 1673 was one of five selectmen there. [42006] Find A Grave Memorial 159895664 lists his children and offers: "Born at Bealls Pasture, Prince George County, Maryland. He removed to Rowan County, N.C., and eventually Camden, S.C., where he is said to have participated in the Battle of Camden on August 16, 1780. He married Elizabeth Raymer in Maryland. She reportedly died at the Nolichunky Settlement in Greene County, Tennessee, where their son Nathan lived prior to moving to Indiana. He had fought in the Battle of Kings Mountain while living in Tennessee. Another son of James and Elizabeth Veatch, Isaac Veatch (25 Aug 1756-18 Aug 1780), died two days after the Battle of Camden, of wounds sustained in the battle. James Veatch lived two more months and died Oct. 29, 1780, also supposedly of wounds sustained in the battle. Gen. James Clifford Veatch, a great-grandson of James and grand-nephew of this Isaac Veatch, "was born near Elizabeth, Indiana, in 1819. His father Isaac Veatch was a member of the Indiana House of Representatives from 1827-28. He died of cholera in July 1833. His grandfather Nathan Veatch fought in the American Revolution at the Battle of King's Mountain as a lieutenant of Tennessee Volunteers. His great-grandfather James Veatch fought, was wounded, and died of his wounds in the American Revolution at the Battle of Camden." (ref., Wikipedia.)"

[41069] "News-Journal [Mansfield, Ohio], 23 August 1998," p. 7: "Shelby - Donald E. Weidner, 90, formerly of 98 N. Gamble St., died Saturday, Aug. 22, 1998, in Crestwood Care Center. Born March 3, 1908 in Mansfield to William and Linda (Markley) Weidner had been a Shelby resident since 1941. Mr. Weidner was employed as a union painter in the Richland County area, was a past member of the Mansfield Eagles, V.F.W. Post #291 of Shelby and had served with the U.S. National Guard from 1929 to 1940. Survivors include one stepdaughter, Catheryn Ernsberger of Clearwater, Florida; eight grandchildren including, Rita Eldridge and Dan Ernsberger both of Shelby; 15 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, nieces nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by bis wife, Faye S. Weidner on Feb. 9, 1995, one step daughter, Evelyn Poppa in 1981, tvo brothers Milton and Sherman Weidner and one sister Eunice Geirspeck."
