[11493] In 1374 Louis compelled his Polish subjects (as he also ruled, in name if not in fact, over that country) to recognize his daughter Maria and her fiancee, Count Sigismund of Brandenburg, as their future king and queen. His other daughter he designated to be queen of Hungary. His wife was a daughter of Stephen Kotromanic of Bosnia. He succeeded his father as King of Hungary and his uncle Kasimir III as King of Poland.
