[9734] John enlisted 23 Feb 1864 in the Union Army as a Private and was transfered to reserve status 11 March 1865. The 1880 federal census lists John and his family in Saville Twp., Perry Co., PA. "The Perry County Democrat, 29 August 1900," p. 3: "John Hollenbaugh died at his residence in Saville township on Tuesday of dropsy. He had been blind for some years. Interment in the Methodist cemetery at Bixler on Friday, four brothers of this family have died in a little over four years time. Daniel died in the hospital at Pittsburg a little over a year ago while on his way home from Ohio. Two brothers survive : William C, of Kistler, and J. T. Hollenbaugh, of this place."
