Phyllis and her husband were two of the original members of the Church of St. Gregory and are longtime parishioners. She was a devoted and wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother cherishing time with her family especially spending time with and corresponding with her grandchildren. Surviving in addition to her husband is one son: Geoffrey Gallagher and wife Colleen of Thorndale, PA and one daughter: Amy Higgins and husband Patrick of Dunmore; granddaughter, Megan Gallagher; grandsons, Patrick and Brendan Gallagher and Jared and Timothy Higgins and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brother, Stephen Jones and wife Judith."

Her marriage to Kenneth Wright Eyerly took place July 8, 1934, in Winterset. A lifetime resident of Winterset, Eathel was a store clerk at the Bizz Mart in Winterset and also worked at Continental Western Insurance in Des Moines until her retirement. She was a member of the Child Welfare Club, First United Methodist Church and Eastern Star, of which she was Past Worthy Matron. She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Charles Calvin McDonald; and a sister, Esther Pauline Groth. She is survived by three sons, Robert L. Eyerly of Aurora, Colo., and Donald R. Eyerly and John Eyerly, both of Winterset; and seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren."
