"The Scott/Dines/Duncan/Dickson Website" at http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com in 2017 provides John and his wife, Mary Arnold, and offers:"There is some uncertainty as to Garnet/Gardner/Gardiner. All spellings appear in early Hingham, MA records. Are they the same? Note: Came to Hingham about 1650 and in 1656 had land granted to him in the south part of town. Whether he was a connection of the early Garners/Gardners of Boston is uncertain. The inventory of his estate was appraised by John Tower and John Ripley, 28 April 1669, at £44, 11s. and included "the Goats that have been sold to pay debts and maintain the family." Wife Mary administrix.
From "Pioneers of MA" by Pope - John Gardner, Plymouth, servant to Kenelm Winslow, was transferred to George Kenrick in 1635. Proprietor 2 November 1640. Settled at Hingham, proprietor 1656."
[9002] Helen is daughter of Charles Helfrich (1877-1946) and Emma M. Rinker (1883- 1953).
[33737] Ancestry.com offers: "Maurer Name Meaning - German and Jewish (Ashkenazic): occupational name for a builder of walls of stone or brick, from an agent derivative of Middle High German mure, German Mauer 'wall' (from Latin murus 'wall', especially a city wall). In the Middle Ages the majority of dwellings were built of wood (or lath and plaster), and this term would have specifically denoted someone employed in building defensive walls, castles, churches, and other public buildings."
