[45831] This line is from the unverified file LZ8Y-BKJ and the associated tree in 2019 in familysearch.org which offers: "Deacon Matthew Cushing, the immigrant, was born in Hingham, Norfolk, England, in 1588, came to New England with his wife and their four sons and one daughter, and his wife's sister, Frances Fircroft, in the ship 'Dilignet,' of Ipswich, John Martin, master, and settled in Hingham. He died in 1660, aged seventy-two years. His wife Margaret, daughter of Henry Pitcdher died in 1682, aged ninety-two years." - and also offers: "Matthew Cushing (1588-1660), born in 1588, the year of the Spanish Armada, son of Peter Cushing of Norfolk, whose grandfather had possessed large estates in Lombard street, London, married 5 August 1613 Nazareth Pitcher, daughter of Henry Pitcher, of the famous family of Admiral Pitcher of England. For the first fifty years of his life he lived in Hardingham and Hingham, Norfolk County, England, and had, as by register of old Hingham: Daniel, baptized 20 April 1619; Jeremiah, 1 January 1621; Matthew, 5 April 1623; Deborah, 17 February 1625; and John, whose baptism is, I believe, omitted and I have heard, that it was in a neighboring parish. With his wife and five children, and his wife's sister (Widow Francis Riecroft, who died a few weeks after their arrival), he embarked in the ship -Diligent- of Ipswich, 350 tons, John Martin, master, which sailed from Gravesend, 26 April 1638, with 133 passengers, among whom was Robert Peck, M.A., Rector of the parish of Hingham, England. The immediate occasion of their departure seems to have been trouble in ecclesiastical matters. Their rector, doubtless with the sympathy and aid of most of those constituting the emigrating party, had pulled down the rails of chancel and altar, and leveled the latter a foot below the church, as it remains to this day. Being prosecuted by Bishop Wren, he left the Kingdom, together with his friends - who sold their estates at half their real value. The party, having landed at Boston Massachusetts, 10 August 1638, immediately proceeded to their destination, Hingham Massachusetts, so named after the name of the former home of the Cushing family in England. At a town meeting held in 1638, a house lot of five acres, first below Pear Tree Hill, on Bachelor (Main) St., was given to Matthew Cushing, and it continued in the possession of the family until 1887. He was early engaged in the public affairs of the town, became a deacon in Reverend Hobart's church, and was the progenitor of many eminent descendants. It is now a pretty well established fact that, with the exception of a few families who have come to this country during the past century, all the persons bearing the surname of Cushing in the United States and Canada are his direct lineal descendants. His will, which was a verbal one, was written after his decease by his children, who, under date of 15 November 1660, pray that Daniel Cushing, Esq., their oldest brother, may be appointed administrator of their father's estate. In his will all the children except Deborah, who married May 1648, Matthew Briggs, are named as living; and the share to this son-in-law was large. His widow died 1681, aged 95."

"The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 23 July 2021: "Lincoln - Neal Lewis Doane, 66, peacefully went to be with the Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 21, with his loved ones by his side at his home in Lincoln, Maine. He was born October 13, 1954, in Lincoln, the eldest son of Lewis Doane and Dorothy (Thompson) Doane.
Neal was predeceased by his father; his infant son, Timothy; his father-in-law, Wyman Russell Sr.; his mother-in-law, Alvira Russell; and his brother-in-law, James Russell Sr. Neal grew up in Kingman, Maine and was a graduate of Lee Academy. He joined the Marines out of high school and was proud to serve his country. Following his service, he worked for 35 years at Lincoln Pulp and Paper. He was also a member of the American Legion and the D.A.V. In his younger years, Neal liked to play baseball. He loved Western movies, novels, and television shows. Bonanza was an all-time favorite. He was a skilled woodworker, having made several special pieces for his children over the years. Neal loved to reminisce, and he always had a story to tell. Neal enjoyed gardening and feeding birds. He liked watching the deer on his lawn in Mattawamkeag, where he lived for many years with his wife, Dee. Prior to his illness, Neal was a fixture at the Crossroad's restaurant in Mattawamkeag and he could be found there most mornings, having a cup of coffee, and being filled in on the local gossip. Neal loved his wife more than anything and felt blessed to have her as his partner in life. Early in their marriage, they enjoyed trips together to Florida, Connecticut, and coastal areas of Maine. Neal and Delia worshiped together at the Bible Baptist Church in Mattawamkeag. He loved his children dearly and was very proud of them. He was often showing off pictures of his children and grandchildren and bragging about them to the hospital and dialysis staff who cared for him. Having been diagnosed with COPD and emphysema, Neal bravely underwent a double lung transplant in 2018, following which he struggled to regain quality of life. His family is relieved to know that he is now at peace. Neal is survived by his wife, Delia (Russell) Doane; his children, Sammy Whitney, Rachel Pawlowski and her husband, Nick, Dakota Doane, Valerie Caras and her husband, Adam, and A.J. Thompson and his wife, Jordynne; his mother, Dot Doane; grandchildren, T.J., Emily and Katie Whitney, Elias and Atticus Pawlowski, and Violet and Hudson Caras; siblings, Dana Doane and Ellie Hanscom, Brenda Pratt and her husband, Donald, Luke Doane and his wife, Brandee, and Loretta Hersom and her husband, Dana; brothers-in-law, Wyman Russell Jr., Wayne Russell and his wife, Jill, Roger Russell and his wife, Mary, and David Russell; and a sister-in-law, Donna Russell; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Neal also leaves behind his dog, Stewie, who brought him much comfort and companionship in his time at home."
