[7611] "The Akron Beacon Journal [Akron, Ohio], 21 February 1951," p. 34: "Portage Lakes - Mary Magdalene Bushey, who celebrated her 100th birthday anniversary last Nov. 4, died today in Barberton Citizens Hospital, where she had been a patient five days. A native of Chester County, Pennsylvania, Mrs. Bushey spent much of her life near Shelby. She and her husband, the late John Bushey, helped build the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Shelby. She moved to Portage Lakes 12 years ago to live with a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harry D. Bushey, 678 State Mill rd. She was known throughout the Lakes district as 'grandma.' She leaves two sons, Harry, who is a Barberton city engineer and Charles of 527 Parker av., Barberton, a civil engineer, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren."
