[25412] David A. Haskell's site states Robert m. (2) Elizabeth Quarles (b. ca. 1688). http://hfa.haskells.net/haskellfamilyna/pafg15.htm offers in 2018: "Robert is mentioned occasionally in the Beverly town records. He was a surveyor of highways in 1720. On the province tax list for 1735 he is called an ensign. In 1742 he was elected a selectman, and he served in various town offices in the following years. By then he had been promoted to a captain. In 1746 he was a selectman, tax assessor, an overseer of the poor and a surveyor of highways for the second district. When his son Benjamin died about 1746, it appears that Benjamin's three sons came under Robert's guardianship. He was abated 20 shillings, 5 pence of his 1759 poll tax, part of which apparently was for Benjamin's son Nathaniel, who had moved from Beverly to Manchester within the previous year. For further explanation see Nathaniel's biography. On the town tax list for 1760 he has listed as having 1 horse, 2 oxen, 6 cows, 16 sheep, 3 swine and £35 cash. On 15 October 1765 he was chosen to be in the grand jury pool for the following month." and "Robert married (2) Elizabeth Quarles after 14 Mar 1725 in Beverly, Essex, Massachusetts. Elizabeth was born 7 about 1688. She died on 8 Jan 1765 in Beverly, Essex, Massachusetts. She was buried in Ancient Burial Ground, Beverly, Essex, Massachusetts."

[34364] Ancestry.com offers: "Thornberry Name Meaning - English: habitational name from Thornborough in North Yorkshire (Thornebergh in 12th-century records) or Thornbrough in Northumberland and North Yorkshire (T(h)orneburg in 13th-century records). The former is probably so named from Old English þorn thorn bush + beorg hill; the latter from þorn + burh fort. Other possible though less likely sources are Thornbury in Devon, Gloucestershire, or Herefordshire, which are all named from Old English þorn + byrig, dative of burh fortified place. Possibly an Americanized spelling of Swedish Thornberg."
