[34712] Mary and Jerome are from the unverified Greer Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2013. Ancestry.com offers: "Cave Name Meaning - English (of Norman origin) and northern French: nickname for a bald man, from Anglo-Norman French cauf 'bald'. Compare Chaffee. English: habitational name from a place in East Yorkshire called Cave, apparently from a river name derived from Old English caf 'swift'. French: metonymic occupational name for someone employed in or in charge of the wine cellars of a great house, from Old French cave 'cave', 'cellar' (Latin cavea, a derivative of cavus 'hollow'). French, possibly also English: topographic name for someone who lived in or near a cave, from the same word as in 3 in an older sense."

[55401] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 30 December 2023: "Old Town - On December 17, 2023, Banton Foster Sr., a long-time resident of Old Town, beloved father, and dear friend, died in a house fire. He was seventy-one. Born in Nashua, New Hampshire, on August 29, 1952, to Walter Foster Jr. and Hazel (Campbell) Foster, Banton was a proud Mainer, avid outdoorsman, and fantastic gardener. He was always up for an adventure. His keen sense of humor and open mindedness endeared him to many. His children fondly recall spontaneous cross-country ski excursions, his love of the Beatles, a soft spot for animals, and his generous spirit. He once chased down Mister Rogers - a speaker at his oldest daughter's college graduation - so his other kids could meet the iconic, kind-hearted role model. He is survived by his six children, Chelsea Henderson, Nathan Henderson, Sarah Foster, Banton Foster Jr., Meghann Foster, and Flaherty Foster; daughters-in-law, Heather Henderson and Morgan Chosnyk; six grandchildren; brother, Timothy Foster; nephew, Walter H. Foster IV; and nieces, Joanna Dall and Allison Hall. He was predeceased by his parents and three older siblings."

[21564] See "400 Years with Haskells," Ivan Y. Haskell (Payson, UT: I. Y. Haskell, 1991). ( IGI File lists his parents as William Haskell (or Askall)(buried 11 May 1630 at Charlton-Musgrave, Somersetshire) and wife Ellin Foule (daughter of Edward Parsons, alias Frowde [sic])( Compact Disc #42; Pin #590618). See http://members.tripod.com/~Scott_Michaud/Haskell-history.html which reports "He came to Salem, Massachusetts, in 1635 aboard the 'Elizabeth' with his stepfather, mother and brothers. He moved from Salem to Gloucester in 1643. He was a Puritan, and according to Americana Illustrated (American History Magazine), he was a 'mariner, engaged in fishing, but found time to attend to much of the town's business, serving as selectman several years, and was represenative to the General Court six times in twenty years. In 1661 he was appointed lieutenant of the 'trayned band' and was later captain. He was one of the officers who refused in 1688 to assess the taxes levied by Sir Edmund Andros, and was fined by the Superior Court at Salem. The repudiated Governor, Andros, was finally driven out of New England by the indignant victims of his tyranny. In 1681 William Haskell joined with others in a petition to the King praying for the interposition of the crown to prevent the disturbance of title to Gloucester lands by Robert Mason, who made claim thereto. He was one of the first two known deacons of the first church at Gloucester...' William married Mary Tybbott, the daughter of Walter Tybbott, on November 16, 1643, in Gloucester. Mary was born on November 6, 1628, in Chepstow, Wales, England. She died on August 16, 1693, in Gloucester, and William died four days later." This web site also provides information concerning his parents and the meaning of his surname. Cf. "Haskells in North America: William Haskell and Elinor Foule Through Five Generations," Richard e. Haskel and Richard K. Haskell (Bangor: Haskell Family Association, 2012). Also see http://www.haskells.net ,http://haskellfamily.org and NEHGR, Vol. 4, p. 363.
