Charles died 2 Jun 1906, Northwood, Worth, IA, "The Grove", Northwood, Worth, IA. The family moved to Ripley Co., Indiana then to Rock Co., WI in 1842. In 1855, they moved to Springfield, IL and then to Mitchell Co, IA. In 1857 they moved to Worth Co, IA. This family was one of the early pioneers of Worth County and laid out the town of Northwood with Lemuel Dwelle and D.D. Franklin. Charles was active in the county and was the first Justice of the Peace for Northwood. He also served as sheriff. In the late 1880's, Charles and Sarah moved to Duarte, CA. Charles is twin to Rebecca. Sarah: She was the niece of the governor of Virginia from 1856 to 1860, Henry Alexander Wise. Sarah: She was the widow of George Williams. Daughter of Thomas Hewitt and Elizabeth Morris." Both the 1880 and 1900 federal census of Northwood, Worth Co., IA lists Charles and Sarah, both b. in England - he is a farmer. The 1900 census reports that he emigrated to America in 1826 and she in 1836.
