He married Margaretha Bracht, daughter of Adam Bracht, on 13 July 1620 at Hilchenbach, Nassau-Siegen (now in Nordrhein-Westfalen), Germany. Occupation: Blacksmith and Kirchmeister of Muesen. "The Perry County Times, 26 July 1962," p. 10: "Vernon L. Myers, 65, of Newport R. D., died July 20 at Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg. He had been employed as a trucker for a number of years. Mr. Myers was a member of the Newport Lutheran Church, the Loyal Order of Moose, and the Order of Owls, both of Newport. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lillian Royer Myers; a daughter Mrs. Robert H. Mangle, Newport R. D.; two brothers, Clarence E., Newport R. D., and Horace A. Myers, Harrisburg; two sisters. Miss Helen Myers, Newport R. D., and Mrs. George Mason, Philadelphia. Services were held July 23 at the David M. Myers Funeral Home on Walnut street, Newport. The Rev. T. V. Miller, pastor of the East Newport Church of God, of ficiated. Burial was at Newport Cemetery."

"The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 13 December 1935, p. 16: "Blue Hill, Dec. 12 - Very many old friends paid their last respects to Mrs. Abby Billings, 86, one of the 'grand old ladies' of the community at the service in the Baptist church. Flowers were in beautiful profusion. Of her father's family of 12 but one now survives, her brother David Albert Snowman of Caribou, at the age of 91, a veteran of the Civil war. Her husband two other brothers also served in the war, all being wounded, one brother fatally. She was long an active member of the Woman's Relief Corps and was treasurer for 21 years, also a member of the Baptist church for many years. Surviving are two sons, James and Oscar Billings and two daughters, Mrs. Irene Woodward and Mrs. A. B. Herrick, all of Blue-hill."
