He married Mary Brown on November 15, 1698, in his hometown. They had 12 children in 15 years. He died on June 12, 1754, in New Haven, Connecticut, having lived a long life of 80 years, and was buried in Southington, Connecticut. Mary Brown was born on August 6, 1675, in New Haven, Connecticut . . . . She died on September 30, 1747, in Southington, Connecticut, at the age of 72."

The Chronicle of Adémar de Chabannes names 'Bernardo filio Hildeberti', specifying that he succeeded in la Marche on the death of Boson Comte de Périgord et de la Marche. He succeeded his uncle in [1003/12] as Comte de la Marche. m Amelia, daughter of _____. The primary source which confirms her marriage has not yet been identified."
