He moved his family to Bedford, Pennsylvania in 1775. He was Dutch however, and was looking for religious freedom. Jacob's Will: dated 6 Oct 1814-"In the name of God Amen. I Jacob Oswalt of Londonderry township, Bedford County and State of Pennsylvania being of perfect mind and memory and calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that is appointed for all men once to die. Johann George seems to have moved down the Appalachian Trail and settled in the Orangeburgh District in South Carolina where there was already a large Swiss/German settlement, and the other was Jacob who stayed in Pennsylvania.
