He moved his family to Bedford, Pennsylvania in 1775. He was Dutch however, and was looking for religious freedom. Jacob's Will: dated 6 Oct 1814-"In the name of God Amen. I Jacob Oswalt of Londonderry township, Bedford County and State of Pennsylvania being of perfect mind and memory and calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that is appointed for all men once to die. Do make and ordain this my last will and testament, in the following form and manner first and prinsably I give and recomend my soul to allmighty God whom gave it and my body to be buried in common deasent christian burial and of such worldly efects as it heath pleased God to bless me with I dispose of in the following form and manner first I geave and bequeath unto my eldest son, Tobias, all my real estate consisting of the plantation whearas I now live on in the township and county afs with all the appertianances thereunto belong in together with all my movable property and household furnature mixed or unmixed, receiving ordering and directing that my eldest son, Tobias, pay unto each and every of my other children the sum of three dollars each that ie to say to my daughter Catherine three Dollars and to my daughter Crestin three Dollars to my son Michael three dollars, to my daughter Susan three dollars and to my son Jacob three dollars and I do by these presants constitute ordain and appoint my eldest son Tobias and Henry Miltheton to be the entire and sole executors of this my last will and testament hearby revoking anuling and seting aside all other wills heartofore made by me hearty ratifying and confirming this to be my only last will and testiment. Johann George seems to have moved down the Appalachian Trail and settled in the Orangeburgh District in South Carolina where there was already a large Swiss/German settlement, and the other was Jacob who stayed in Pennsylvania.
