[24864] http://home.wxs.nl/~voort359/home3alsac.html states "Acccording to her biography, Odile was born blind and was therefore rejected by her father, Duke Eticho. Her birth was kept a secret and she was raised first by a nurse in the town of Scherwiller, and later in the Convent of Baume-les-Dames. When she was about 12, she was baptised by Saint Erhard, the Bishop of Ratisbonne and his brother Saint Hidulphe, the Abbot of Moyen-Moutier. They had come because of a vision the Bishop had had. Indeed a miracle ocurred at the girl's christening: Odile suddenly could see. The news of this miracle reached her father, and eventually she was reunited with her parents. Later, Odile refused to be married off to a German Duke, and instead chose to devote her entire sober life to serving the sick and the poor and spreading the Christian faith. Her father gave in, and about 685 he let her have his castle of Hohenbourg and its dependencies in order to let her transform it into a convent. One of the chapels she had built was miraculously consecrated in 696 by Saint Peter, accompanied by angels. This is where Saint Odile later was buried."

[38344] Thankful is from the unverified Hoctor Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2015. Ancestry.com offers: "Paine Name Meaning - English (mainly Kent and Sussex): from the Middle English personal name Pain(e), Payn(e) (Old French Paien, from Latin Paganus), introduced to Britain by the Normans. The Latin name is a derivative of pagus 'outlying village', and meant at first a person who lived in the country (as opposed to Urbanus 'city dweller'), then a civilian as opposed to a soldier, and eventually a heathen (one not enrolled in the army of Christ). This remained a popular name throughout the Middle Ages, but it died out in the 16th century."

[2390] Wulfhilda was a coheiress of Magnus, last Billung duke of Saxony. http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/SAXONY.htm offers: "Wulfhild ([1075]-Altdorf 29 Dec 1126). The Annalista Saxo names 'Wifhildem et Eilicam' as the two daughters of Duke Magnus & his wife, specifying that Wulfhild married 'Heinrico duci, filio Welfi ducis senioris de Bawaria'. The 'Historia Welforum' records that Wulfhild died at Altdorf 'decimo sexton die post mortem mariti' and was buried 'in monasterio sancti Martini'. The necrology of Lüneburg records the death "29 Dec" of 'Wlfhild ducissa'. The necrology of Weingarten records the death 'IV Kal Jan' of 'Wuolfhildis ducissa hic sepulta'. - m Heinrich von Bayern, son of Welf I Duke of Bavaria & his second wife Judith de Flandre ([1074]-Ravensburg 13 Dec 1126, bur Weingarten).
