[56628] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 2 August 2024: "Stetson - Charles Eugene Leighton was born June 23, 1939, in the town of Stetson, Maine, and passed away peacefully at home on July 30, 2024. He was the son of Donald W. Leighton and Cynthia E. (Savage) Leighton. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Janet D. (DeWitt) Leighton; brothers, Robert, Richard and Clyde; and sisters, Juanita Savage Orman and Rebecca (Leighton) Leen. Charles is survived by his sons, Dwane, Jeffrey, and Michael and wife, Melinda, all of Stetson; sisters, Rose (Leighton) Tenney of Dexter and Charlene Leighton of St. Albans, 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Charles was also loved by many friends in the town of Stetson. Charles was a graduate of the Corinna Academy. Charles was well known in the Stetson community for his many years of service as selectman and many other positions for the town. He was also one the of the founding members of the Stetson Historical Society. He started his family machine shop in the basement of their house in the 1970s, later moving out to the barn behind their house and from there built a shop in 1980, which has continued to grow since then. He was also co-owner of Leightons Bus service for 46 years with his wife. Charles loved fishing and golf and traveling. One of his favorite places to travel was Myrtle Beach with his wife, Janet."

[40921] "Lansing State Journal [Lansing, Michigan], 26 December 1958," p. 17: "Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Monday at the Berl Field funeral home, Dimondale, for Fred E. Twichell, 83, who died unexpectedly Tuesday in Los Angeles. He was the father of 10 children, including three central Michigan businessmen. Among them is Burr Twichell, dry cleaner and former East Lansing councilman. A son, Maurice, owns an Eaton Rapids grocery, and another son Arthur, is a dry cleaner in Bellevue. Two sons are employed by the Michigan State university. Harley of East Lansing is connected with the chemistry laboratory and Roy of Eaton Rapids is associated with the university's farm crops section. Another son, Elmer, lives and works in Eaton Rapids, which also is the home of a daughter, Mrs. Verna McCarrick. He had not been hospitalized. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Another son, Harvey, lives in Wichita, Kan., and another daughter, Mrs. Bessie North, lives in St Petersburg, Fla. A brother, Frank, makes his home in Lansing. Twenty-seven grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren also survive." Fred is son of Edward B. Twichell and Martha M. Dunbar.
