"The Daily News [Lebanon, Pennsylvania], 12 May 1944," p. 10: "Harry H. Geist of State College, died at 4:05 o'clock this morning at the Lebanon Sanatorium. Death was due to heart trouble, following an illness of the past year. Mr. Geist was aged fifty-five years. He was a professor of chemistry for the past twenty-five years at Pennsylvania State College. The deceased was a member of the Masonic Order at Mt. Carmel. Survivors are two brothers, J. Warren Geist, Mt. Carmel; A. Frank Geist, Rochester, N. Y.; one sister, Mrs. Fred Auch, Elizabethtown; one cousin, Dr. John J. Mengel of this city."

"The Perry County Democrat [Bloomfield, Pennsylvania], 11 September 1889," p. 3: "In last week's issue we gave a brief notice of the death of Mrs. George Briner, Sr., which occurred on Sunday of last week at her residence in Jackson township. Mrs. Briner'a maiden name was Seager, and she came from Berks county to Toboyne township, this county, in 1808, when she was but four years old. She was married to George Briner in 1830, and was the mother of eight children, four boys and four girls, all of whom survive her. She waa the grandmother of 17 children, 12 of whom are still living, and the great-grandmother of three children, all living. She has two brothers and one sister living, one brother in Cumberland connty, one in this county, and a sister in Juniata county. The deceased was confined to her bed only a few days prior to her death, which was due to the infirmities of old age. She was a kind-hearted, Christian woman, an affectionate wife and kind mother. She was aged 85 years, 3 months and and 7 days."
