He was born in Bangor Oct. 25, 1916, the son of Eugene and Gertrude (Hutchingson) Gray. He had lived in the Bangor-Brewer area all his life. He was owner and operator of the Arthur Gray Plumbing Co. of Bangor for 28 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the Bangor Grange No. 372. He was a member of the Master Plumbers Association, the Master Electrical and Oil Burner Association, a member of the MSA Club, past vice-president and a member of the board of directors of the Penobscot Conservation Association of Brewer. He had been affiliated with the Harborside Restaurant of Brewer. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Gray of Bangor; two sons, Eugene C. Gray Sr. of Bangor and Steven M. Gray of Clifton; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Katherine) Taylor of Fish-kill N.Y., Judith Lee of Brewer, and Mrs. William (Debra) Doyle; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two aunts, Mrs. John (Beatrice) McGuire of Glenburn and Mrs. Frankie Heath of Bucksport; several nieces, nephews and cousins."

[16614] "Historical Memoranda Concerning Persons and Places in Old Dover, NH," by Quint, relates that he served in the Indian Wars of 1707 and was Major of the NH troops in the attack on Port Royal in 1707, and was their Colonel in the reduction of that place in 1710. He was Colonel of the Rangers in the winter of 1710 and latger became a Judge. Eva Gardner's summary of his life is in genealogical records at the New Castle, NH Town Clerk's office in 1964.
