He was born September 18, 1882 in Deer Isle, the son of Peter and Rebecca Robbins Eaton and attended local schools. On January 25, 1905 he married Edith Haskell Greenlaw at Deer Isle. For 48 years he was employed on steamships as chief engineer. Mr. Eaton was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 133, Harbor View Chapter No. 136, OES. Oakvale Club and the First Congregational Church of Deer Isle. Surviving are his wife; five sons, Keith Elwood, Martin, and Maurice of Deer Isle, LeRoy of New London, Conn.; two daughters, Mrs. Perle Spofford and Mrs. Maurice Eaton, both of Deer Isle; a brother, Newell Eaton of Stonington; three half-brothers, Peter of Deer Isle, Chester of Stonington, Halma of Sunshine, Deer Isle; a half-sister, Mrs. Frank Conwy of Sunshine, Deer Isle; 23 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several niece and nephews."

[12281] A few months after becoming Earl of Kent, Thomas was made Duke of Surrey in reward of his assistance to King Richard II against the lords appellant. In 1399 he was stripped of the dukedom, and was beheaded the next January for conspiracy against King Henry IV. However, his brother Edmund was permitted to succeed to the earldom, which became extinct with his death.
[45699] Margaret's marriage record states she is daughter of Joseph Leonard and Rebecca. "The Perry County Democrat, 29 August 1906," p. 3: "Margaret A. Crist, wife of Daniel Crist, died at her home in Altoona on Wednesday, the 15th Inst., of cancer of the stomach, and for nine long weeks she suffered all the horrors which that dread disease can inflict. She was the daughter of Joseph and Rebecca Leonard and was born on the 1st of March, 1826, on the farm now owned and occupied by Austin Dimm, in Tuscarora township. She was married to Daniel Crist about fifty-three years ago and together they journeyed the pathway of life for more than half a century, meeting with the ups and downs of life common to all who tread these mortal shores. She is survived by her husband and two sisters, Mrs. Rhoda Barwis, of Bellwood, Blair county, and Mrs. Rebecca Kenner, of Nook, Juniata county, and the following children: Joseph N., of Altoona; Mary C, married to Alfred Rice; Zella, married to Calvin Harman; William L., all of Altoona, and Daniel M., who lives somewhere in Texas, and twenty grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. Two of her children preceded her to the eternal world, viz: David E. and Lydia R., married to James Henchey, of Tyrone."
