[41671] The unverified Sandy Mitchel Family Tree in 2016 in Ancestry.com offers: "When Abraham Mitchell was born on March 10, 1658, his father, William, was 43 and his mother, Joane, was 42. He married his first wife in 1682 [Mary Knowlton , born on July 17, 1685]. On April 27, 1699, he married his second wife. He died on November 28, 1696, at the age of 38." [He is shown marrying his second wife after he died. Obviously, this line requires further research.]

[1808] Cerdic, an ealdorman, landed with his son Cynric in Hampshire in 495; defeated the Britons in 508 and decisively at Certicesford (Chartford) in 519. {Ref. Enclc. Brit., 1956 Ed., 5:157.} His ancestry, largely legendary, is traced back to Woden and Frea; Woden's legend has his ancestors back to Adam and Eve. {per "Royal Ancestors of Magna Charta Barons," Carr P. Collins, Jr., Dalas, 1959.} Cerdic and his son Cynric are supposed to have become kings in 519 in the southern part of Hampshire, after several successful battles against the Welsh. Cerdic's sister is supposed to be mother of Wihtgar, to whom Cerdic and Cynric gave the Isle of Wight. {Cf. "The Age of Arthur," John Morris (NY: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1973, pp. 103-13, 225).} See Trelawney Dayrell Reed, "The Rise of Wessex," chart p. 31, gens. 1-8. Hazel was a very active member of the Blue Hill Baptist Church and was always involved with the church sales and sewing circle. She was known to welcome people into her home and if they were lucky enough they were able to try one of her apple pies. Hazel was a member of the Halcyon Grange No. 345 of North Blue Hill, and a member of the Blue Hill Fair Association. Hazel had incredible energy and enjoyed working very hard in many summer resident's homes where she worked over the years. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Lloyd and Colene Astbury, Clyde and Gloria Astbury, all of Blue Hill; a daughter and her husband, Jeanette and Clarence Eastman of Bucksport; grandchildren Diane and Timmy McNeal of Surry, Perry and Sylvia Astbury of Penobscot, Crystal and Albert Howes Jr. of Blue Hill, Marie Pearson of Brewer, Sharon and Bill Grindle of Blue Hill, Donna and John DeLeo of Ellsworth, Violet and John Hughes of Kennebunk, John and Karen Wardwell, Robert and Robin Wardwell, Brian and Karen Wardwell, Roxanne and Joe Peak, all of Orland; one grandchild, Daniel Astbury, the son of Clyde and Gloria Astbury, predeceased her. She is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by all of her brothers, Everett Wescott of Princeton, Clifford, Kendall, Cecil, Charles, Wescott, all of New Jersey, Lawrence Wescott of Windham, and is survived by her loving sister, Thelma Closson of Sedgwick.
