Francis Higginson of Claybrook, Leicestershire, who was ejected from his "living" for nonconfirmity and came to serve a Salem, MA church at an annual salary of L30 - sailing 25 April 1629, arriving 29 June. Higginson wrote an account of the voyage and in 1630 published "New England's Plantation..." describing the colony. Hugh Casement states she is daughter of Thomas Langley and Ann _____ and that she m. (2) John Knight, a widower. "The Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England, 1620-1633" reports: "On 10 April 1668 Anne Knight deeded eighty acres at Royalside, bequeathed to her by her late husband 'Richard Ingerson,' to their sons 'John and Nathaniel Ingerson' with the consent of her now husband John Knight Sr. of Newbury." "A Genealogy of the Ingersoll Family in America, 1629-1925," Lillian Drake Avery (NY: The Grafton Press, 1926), p. 2 reports that she "is said to be a cousin of John Spencer of Newbury (NEHGR 53:343)." She was principal for several years of the Winter Harbor High School. She was a member of Ruby Chapter OES of Winter Harbor and the Retired Teachers Association, She is survived by three daughters, Diane Guthrie of Ellsworth, Shirley Chase of San Fransicom Calif., Janet Fickett of Winter Harbor; one son, Edward Francis Chase, Jr. of San Diego, Calif.; one sister, Margaret Crowley of Lamoine; 11 grandchildren and I5 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews."
