"Charles Boyle Franks, only son of Michael W. Franks, was born near New Geneva, Nicholson Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, July 29, 1867. He obtained his primary education at the Pleasant Hill School in Nicholson Township, then entered the Institute at Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, whence he was graduated, class of 1887. He returned to the home farm one year, then having attained his majority began business life working for the Union Supply Company at Valley Works, as clerk in the retail store, remaining until July 1, 1890, when he entered the employ of the H. C. Frick Coke Company, at Mammoth, Westmoreland County, as shipping clerk. On February 1, 1891, he was promoted to assistant superintendent at Mammoth, under Superintendent Fred. C. Keithly. On October 1, 1891, his chief resigned, and Mr. Franks was appointed superintendent of the Mammoth plant. He continued there until February, 1900, as superintendent, then was transferred to Leisenring No. 1 as superintendent of the coke works and coal mines there belonging to the H. C. Frick Coke Company, and still continues in that position. He is, as all the Franks have always been, a strong Democrat, and has for the past ten years served continuously as school director. In 1909 he represented Fayette County at the State School Directors Convention held in Harrisburg. It was through his influence and effort that the first township high school in Fayette County was established at Leisenring No. 1 in 1907. Outside his business, there is nothing in which Mr. Franks is more deeply interested than in providing adequate facilities for the education of the youth of his county. He is a member of the Baptist church, as is his wife.
"In May, 1912, he represented his party at the Democratic State Convention at Harrisburg. His private business are in undeveloped coal lands, and he is director of the Union National Bank of Connellsville.
"He married, October 11, 1895, Sarah Elizabeth Pollins, born in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, July 30, 1871, daughter of Jesse Pollins, a farmer and native of Westmoreland County. They had one child: Jesse Pollins Franks, born April 29, 1897."

[5320] Richard was a Knight of the Garter and Protector of England, and 3rd Duke of York. http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/PLANTAGENET3.htm states: "Protector of England, Earl of March & Ulster, Earl of Cambridge. The first to adopt the surname of Plantagenet. His laying claim to the throne of England led to the War of the Roses. The Complete Peerage v.XIIpII,pp.905-909. Son of Richard, Earl of Cambridge, a noble who had been executed for treason by Henry V of England in 1415, and of Anne Mortimer, who, like her husband, was a direct descendant of Edward III. Richard thus had an excellent claim on the throne of England, which he began to press in 1448 by assuming the long-disused surname of Plantagenet. In doing so, he made a direct challenge to the weak Henry VI. In about 1424, he married Cecily Neville, a descendant of John of Gaunt. Having had the attainder against his father reversed in 1426, he was himself attainted on 20 Nov 1459. This made him all the more determined to achieve the throne for the House of York, and he died fighting the Lancastrians at the Battle of Wakefield on 30 Dec 1460."
