Ralph was a joiner and r. Plymouth, MA.
http://www.billputman.com/Gorham.pdf offers: "Ralph was born in Benefield, Northamptonshire in 1575. He obviously married, but I have no name for his wife or anything about her. Ralph Gorham came to America in 1635. The ship's list for the Phillip, show a Thomas Gorham age 19 and John Gorham age 18. Whether or not these were his son's I do not know. His son John Gorham was baptized in 1620 so they most likely were his children. I assume he was on the
same boat. There is never a mention of a wife in America. So again, I assume she died in England probably in the late 1620s or early 1630s.
Ralph Gorman was in Plymouth (or the Plymouth Colony at least) in 1637 when he was granted land on which to build a house on October 2, 1637. In 1638 he was referred to as 'Ralph the elder' indicating he had a son named Ralph as well. However, only his son, John Gorman, had his birth recorded and John was the only one mentioned in the records of the Plymouth Colony. Ralph Gorham is mentioned in 1642 but he was not on any later records. As he was sixty seven
years old he probably died in about 1643. His son John inherited his plantation."
Posted in Ancestry.com:
Gorham Family from "Genealogical Notes of Barnstable Families-Gorham, 1550-1675 , England & Massachusetts," pp. 407f.:
Capt. John Gorham is the ancestor of the numerous families of the name of Gorham in New England, in the British Provinces, in Rhode Island, New York, and other states in the Union. His descent is traced from the DeGorran of La Tanniere, near Gorram, in Maine, on the borders of Brittany. Several of the family removed to England in the eleventh century, during the reign of William the Conquerer. In England many of the name were men of learning, wealth and influence. The immediate ancestors of Capt. John were not men of note. His father Ralph and his grandfather James resided at Benefield in Northamptonshire, where John was baptized January 28, 1620-1. James Gorham of Benefield, was born in 1550, married in 1572, Agnes Bernington, and died 1576. Ralph, born in 1575, came with his family to New England, and was in Plymouth in 1637. On the 2d of October in that year, "Lands to erect a house upon are granted to Ralph Boarame, of some part of the waste grounds about Edmund Bumpas or Philip Delanoys house."
Of Ralph Gorham or his family little is known. Only the birth of his son John is recorded either at Benefield or at Plymouth. He probably had other children, evidently a son Ralph, born in England, for he called, March 4, 1638-9, "the elder," showing that there were then two persons of that name in Plymouth.* He is named in the Plymouth Colony Records June 4, 1639, and April 5, 1642, and thereafter his name disappears. At the latter date he was sixty-seven years of age, and, if he was living in 1643, his name would not be enrolled on the list taken in August that year, of all between 16 and 60 that were able to bear arms in the Colony. Ralph, the younger's name, is not on that list.
It is probable that Ralph Gorham died about the year 1643, leaving no widow, and an only child John who inherited his property. This is inferred from the fact that no settlement of his estate appears on the records--none was required if he had only one heir, and he of legal age. During the seventeenth century, besides John and his descendants, no other person of the name of Gorham is mentioned as a resident in the Colony.
Of the early life of John, little is known. He had a good common school education, was brought up in the Puritan faith, and during life was a consistent and exemplary Christian.* He probably served an apprenticeship with a tanner and currier of leather, working at that business in the winter, and pursuing some other calling in the summer. At the first settlement of the country very few mechanics were employed at their trades during the year. All had lands assigned to them, and in the summer season labored more or less on their farms. Even the governors and their assistants had farms, which they tilled with their own hands.
At an early age he had to rely on himself,--a young man in a strange land, with no family connections to sustain him, and little wealth to aid him in the pursuit of the business of life. However, he was an honest boy, and he grew up an honest man, and his descendants have inherited, not only his good name, but generally this trait of his character.
In 1643, he being then twenty-two years of age, married Desire Howland, one of the first born at Plymouth, a young woman who had also been educated in the Puritan faith, and who during her long life was a pattern of good works, a kind hearted woman, and a Christian in name and spirit. She was a daughter of John, and a grand-daughter of John Tilley, both of whom came over in the Mayflower.
In 1646 he removed from Plymouth to Marshfield, and in 1648 was chosen constable of that town. In the same year he was propounded to become a freeman of the Colony, and June 4, 1650, was admitted. In 1651 he was a member of the Grand Inquest of the Colony.
In 1652 he removed to Yarmouth, and purchased the houselot on the north Country road, adjoining to the bounds of Barnstable. . . .

The Rev'd Fr. R. J. Goode wrote 13 Dec 1996: "Our Hinckleys appear to have come from Lenham where the church is St. Mary's . . . At some point the family moved next door to Harrietsham. That is where Elder Samuel was from as was his father, Robert. Robert was not connected with Tenterden as far as I know. Robert's father was pretty definitely the John whose death is listed in Harrietsham (1577) for he is listed as 'pater familias' in the Harriestsham register."]

Jadwiga was Polish queen before she married the Great Lituanian Prince - Wladyslaw Jagiello (Vladislaus Jagiello). For her life see (in 2003): http://www.angelfire.com/mn3/pnaf/jadwiga.html and also http://www.lehigh.edu/~jahb/jadwiga/jadwiga.wawel.html and.
http://www.guide2womenleaders.com/womeninpower/Womeninpower1350.htm offers: "Her official title was 'Hedvig Rex Poloniæ', and she was the youngest daughter of king Louis of Hungary and Poland and Elizabeth of Bosnia. She was brought up at the royal court in Buda. In 1378 she was betrothed to Wilhelm von Habsburg and spent about a year at the imperial court in Vienna. She was well educated and polyglot, interested in arts, music, science and court life, and was also known for her piety. When her father died in 1382, the Hungarian throne was inherited by her older sister, Maria. The lords of Lesser Poland did not want to continue the personal union with Hungary and therefore chose her as their new monarch. After two years of negotiations with Jadwiga's mother and a civil war in Greater Poland (1383), she finally came to Kraków and was crowned King of Poland.. As a monarch, she probably had little actual power, but she was actively engaged in her kingdom's political, diplomatic and cultural life. In 1387 she led a military expedition to reconquer the Duchy of Halych and in 1390 she began to correspond with the Teutonic Knights. She gave much of her wealth to charity, including foundation of hospitals, she founded the bishopric in Vilnius and resored the Academy of Kraków, since called Jagiellonian University in honor of her and her husband. Her engagement to Wilhelm of Habsburg was broken off, and instead she married Jagiello, Gand Duke of Lithuania, in order to unite Poland and Lithuania and to convert the Lithuanians to Christianity. She was said to be a blonde, blue-eyed beauty, and an exhumation performed in 1976 showed that she was unusually tall for a medieval woman (180 cm). Her only daughter, Elizabeth Bonifacia, died one month after her birth, and Jadwiga died soon after."
