He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dianne P. Carter of Ellsworth; daughter, Tammy Carter of Ellsworth; stepsons, William Conary Jr and wife, Jane, of Ellsworth, Robert Conary and wife, Lori, of Denver, Colo., Steven Conary and wife, Jennifer, of Richmond and Mark Conary and wife, Jessica, of Lincolnville; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brother, Albert Carter and wife, Sandra, of Ellsworth."
