The first land he bought in Falmouth consisted of three acres of the thirty-acre lot granted to John White by the Falmouth Proprietors, the remainder of the lot being bought at the same time by his brother, William Dyer. In 1740, John Dyer and his wife Mary sold their 'house & 3 acres on which it stands' to Christopher Strout, of Falmouth, for £

Jean ("John") was a Crusader and became King of Jerusalem and later Emperor of Constantinople. "By an aunt of Edward I's Queen Eleanor of Castile John had a younger son Louis, who married the heiress of Beaumont in Maine. Their son Henry de Beaumont (d. 1340) came to England, served the first three Edwards in their wars and became by marriage Earl of Buchan in Scotland." John m. (1) 15 Sept 1210 Mary, dau. of Conrad de Montferrat and wife Isabel (dau. of Aumary I, King of Jerusalem); Jean became King of Jerusalem by election of the barons in right of his wife who shortly died leaving a daughter and heiress on whose behalf he reigned. Jean m. (2) in 1214 Stephanie, dau. and heir of Leo II, King of Armenia; she d.s.p. in 1219. On the marriage of his daughter Yolande, Jean returned to Europe and m. (3) Berengaria of Leon.
