John m. (2) 14 Oct 1989 in Harrisburg, PA to Trudy D. Vizzini. His obituary:
John Berger Bubeck, DDS, 87, of Lower Paxton Township, passed away peacefully at his home following a brief illness on Tuesday, March 9, 2021.
Born January 29, 1934 in Pottsville, he was the son of the late Professor Allan F. and Eugenia (Berger) Bubeck and was also preceded in death by his brother, Allan F. Bubeck, II.
John grew up in Kutztown and graduated from Kutztown High School in 1951 where he was a member of the National Honor Society and was principal clarinetist in the high school band. Following graduation, he was a student at Penn State University until 1953 and was a member of the marching and concert Blue Bands. He continued his education at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dentistry, where he received his doctorate in 1957 and belonged to the Psi Omega dental fraternity. After he graduated, he spent a year in Virginia practicing dentistry on underprivileged children while employed by the Public Health Department.
John served his country and achieved the rank of Captain in the Army for several years, serving in the Dental Corps while stationed in Mainz, Germany. He then settled in Harrisburg, and had his own practice from 1961 until 2008, partnering with Colonial Park Family Dentistry in 2004.
A longtime member of CrossPoint United Methodist Church, he was active in the choir and Colony Ringers. He was also a member of the Harrisburg Area Dental Society (Past President), the Pennsylvania Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. In 1990, he was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and also received the Harrisburg Dental Societys Dr. A.S. Koser Award the same year. He was a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry and served for several years as Continuing Education Chairman for the Harrisburg Branch. John was a 40 year member and Past President of the Lower Paxton Township Lions Club and received the 'Lion of the Year' Award. John still managed to find time to spend with family and friends. He was an avid golfer, belonged to the PCHI Golf Club and the Golden Boys of Summer Golf Group, even making a hole in one at Deer Valley in 2017. He and his wife enjoyed socializing with the Awesome "8" + 2 Gang, a group of friends with whom they went on cruises, and planned progressive dinners and get-togethers. He enjoyed listening to classical music and rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and was the family baker, especially Christmas cookies. John was quick-witted, well known for his impeccable grammar, and will be dearly missed.
Surviving is his beloved wife of over 31 years, Trudy D. Vizzini; his children: Kevin Bubeck (and his wife, Nancy), Boynton Beach, FL, John Bubeck (and his wife, Sondra), Coraopolis, Karen Steketee (and her husband, Dirk), Centennial, CO, and Joellen Myers, Harrisburg; his sister-in-law: Jeri Ann Bedard, Harrisburg; 8 grandchildren: Dr. Alyssa Kay, Sonie Burgunder, Leah Bubeck, John Bubeck, Erica Bubeck, Callie Myers, Camden Myers, and Alec Steketee; 3 great grandchildren: Gemma Burgunder, Camryn Rice, Jr., and Adeline Bubeck; cousins: Alice Nagle, Emily Hunter, and Susan Mauntel; his nieces: Darlene Price and Donna Bubeck; his nephew: Allan Bubeck, III; and his devoted fur-baby, Zoey.
